Kelly's POV
Where are we? Kelly thought as she looked around her. She woke up earlier than Hanna and Mace and had already found out they were in a cell.
There were children and women around but no men. The doors are tightly sealed, and she can tell by its design that it was a steel door. She also tried to transform earlier and communicate with her fellow werewolves but to no avail.
She realized that the whole building was warded with sealer magic.
Her jaw tightened after helping Rylie and Aly escape. She ran towards the pack's location to rescue the others, but she was too late. The witches already killed some of the patrol guards and made her surrender or else, Mace and the other kids would die. She has no choice but to give in. The hope that only kept her from lashing out is that Aly and Rylie will be able to get some help.
She looked around to know if there were some familiar faces and her eyes widened when she saw Rylie's father. Thomas Scott in flesh and blood chained to a bed in the wall in his left wrist. His beard was as long as his neck, and his hair was also long as a girl's. At first, she's not sure if he is really Thomas Scott. But judging by his green eyes and that lock of golden hair. She knew right away.
H-He was alive?
Rylie believed that he was dead. If they can get out of here. Kelly will tell Rylie the excellent news. Rylie's father is alive!
Despite the gloom she felt, hope blossomed in Kelly's chest.
He is a renowned archaeologist, and maybe he would be able to help them escape. He also studied the witches before and must have known what their weaknesses were.
"Kelly?"
Mace opened her eyes, and Hanna soon followed. Kelly was forced to tear her gaze away from the old Archaeologist.
"Yes, hun?"
Kelly held Mace's hands. She knew that Mace would panic once she knew what kind of place they were in. She doesn't want that for Mace.
"W-What is this place?"
Mace's eyes showed fear, and Kelly hugged her. "It's alright. We will get out of here soon."
"Oh my God.... T-They looked like they lost all hope." Hanna looked around them. The children and woman's faces in the place are hollowed. It's as if they never thought of escaping.
"W-Why are we here?" Hunter's wife also showed fear in her eyes as she scanned the woman's faces and the children around them.
That's precisely what Kelly thought when she first opened her eyes. She asked them if they were willing to escape, and fear showed in their eyes. They also shook their head violently as if asking those questions frightened them. Maybe the witches broke down their spirit until nothing had been left.
"It's ok. We will find a way to escape." Kelly rubbed Hanna's arms and threw an assured look in Helga's way, Hunter's wife.
Hanna showed her a smile that didn't reach her eyes. If only she could really convince them to bolt out once one of the witches entered the facility, but she doubts that the woman here will be able to do that.
She looked at the only man in the room. He also has a defeated look in his eyes.
Kelly closed her eyes for a moment and bit her lips.
"H-Hey!"
Thomas didn't look up. He was muttering to himself while writing something in a journal.
"Thomas!"
Kelly felt a warmth inside her rose. Thomas looked up from his writings and looked around. It seems that he doesn't know who called him.
"Thomas! Here!"
His eyes became wide, and he smiled as soon as he saw her, but he realized that being inside the cell meant they were captured, and his smile vanished. It was replaced with a look of worry and concern.
"K-Kelly?" He stood up from his bed, walked closer to her, and stopped when his chains prevented him from doing so. "W-What are you doing here?"
He looked towards the door and whispered that. As if afraid that someone might hear him. He also looked up at the CCTV camera on the corner and pretended as if he was just talking nonsense. He bowed his head down and wrote something on his notes.
"The witches from this coven attacked us. Kidnapped the others and brought us here. Can you help us escape?" Kelly pressed him for answers.
He closed his eyes tightly, then when he opened them, his eyes became dark.
"D-Don't say that." He looked briefly at the other prisoners. "T-There are spies inside these walls and lower down your voice. Don't look at me when you are talking."
Kelly looked back, and she saw heads turned her way. They all looked away from her when they became aware that she saw them. Mace clings to her arms.
"I-I'm afraid, Kelly."
Hanna hugged Mace and whispered soothing words to her. Kelly scratched Mace's head and spoke. Her voice was close to a whisper. Helga huddled closer to them.
"Why haven't you tried to escape?" Kelly turned her attention towards the old man.
"I-It's a little complicated to tell you."
"Then try me. I have all the time in the world."
"Not all the time in the world when you are in this place."
Kelly briefly glanced at the archaeologist and met his eyes. There was something that changed in Thomas that Kelly couldn't quite put a finger in. And she's afraid that she can't entirely trust him.
"H-How long have you been in here?"
The last time she saw him was 10 years ago, and he hadn't aged a day. It really made her think that something must have happened to him here.
"T-Ten years."
"And didn't bother to escape?" Hanna butted in, stroking Mace's hair.
Kelly exhaled a breath. It seems that Hanna is also wise. She didn't look up once when she said that. Probably made a note to herself about what Thomas said.
"I-I did." He hissed. "But they caught me every time I escaped."
"And what you said about spies. Aren't you one of them?"
He gritted his teeth. "I wish I was because then I would be treated more kindly, but I'm not. These shackles are the proof, and my hair is longer than a woman's. They hardly pay any attention to me. Only to kids. Like her."
Mace whimpered when she heard that. Kelly glared at him.
"Don't frighten the kid."
"I am telling the truth!"
As if on cue, two witches entered the room and forced fully dragged a kid from the other side.
Hanna made Mace hide behind her. Kelly held her breath and was ready to fight them if they ever took Mace away, but when the witches came to their side. They yanked a girl in her mother's arms a couple of distance from them and looked at her before smirking.
Thomas quickly put his head down. As if afraid that he will face the wrath of the witches. The kid wailed and kicked the witches, but they just swatted him, and his body floated in the air. He struggled to get back to his feet. While the other kid obeyed. Probably doesn't want that happening to him too.
The mother of the kids cried on the corner while the other woman comforted her.
Sh*t! If ever Mace is dragged like that, she will fight to the death, and she knew Hanna will too.
She turned her head towards Thomas. "W-What will they do to them?"
He opened his mouth, but he gagged as soon as he tried to croak a word out.
Kelly's eyes widen. He is magically bonded but with what and how?
