CHAPTER 44

(Rylie's POV)

Rylie looked at Aly's sad face.

After waking up from the ritual, her wolf started pacing inside her mind. It turns out that she can see through her mind eye what her wolf is doing, and it starts sniffing the air. She discovered something incredible.

Her wolf was able to recognize Aly as her true mate.

Mate!

We still need to comfort her. It's not proper to say it now that we are on the run.

Rylie reprimanded her wolf. It was good that her wolf didn't press her anymore. And as she looked at Rylie's state, she started blushing hard. She didn't realize that Aly was still naked from her waist up down to her feet. And only the pendant for hiding their presence is all Aly got on her body. She looked at her body, and her shoulders slumped when she realized that she's got nothing to give Aly.

After Aly laid her head on Rylie's shoulder. Aly was so exhausted that she fell asleep. She looked at Aly's face. She had never seen a woman so beautiful. Aly has the bluest eyes she ever saw on a human. It was like the blue in the middle of the ocean, like a sapphire glittering in the dark.

She put a hand to caress Aly's cheeks. She really likes this woman so much. To find out that Aly was also her true mate made her so happy. Her heart was about to burst out of her chest to say it to Aly.

The sun is not seen on the horizon, and Rylie is worried for Aly. Even though they have a high temperature, being out here in the open with nothing on will make them sick too.

"A-Aly? Can I hug you?"

She heard Aly mumble.

"Hmm..."

Rylie bit her lip. It was hard not to kiss Aly because she could already feel the mate-pull, but she persisted and just put an arm around Aly.

"Sit on my lap. The rock is cold."

Aly, with her eyes still closed, did what Rylie told her.

She almost stood up when she felt Aly's butt on her lap. Rylie suddenly felt uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time. She can't explain how she felt because Aly is on her lap naked, and at the same time, she also loves the warmth their body is making.

She sniffed Aly's hair, and she was instantly turned on. Her mouth hung open and slowly made its way towards Aly's neck, but she stopped herself on time.

She shook her head hard. I must resist!

Rylie closed her eyes and gritted her teeth. Her body is rapidly heating up. The only reprieve she has is that Aly is comfortable and is not cold. She squeezed Aly tightly, and her eyes traveled all over Aly's body. Her eyes widened when she saw the burn Aly had. It wasn't healing up.

Rylie took a peek, and she bit her lip when she saw how nasty it was. She looked at Aly's face and realized that must have hurt a lot, judging by the charred burn and swells and the way Aly was gritting her teeth and furrowing her eyebrow.

It was also good that Rylie doesn't need to remove any restrictions on the burns because Aly is already naked. And maybe it wasn't healing because it was from a witch's magic.

She closed her eyes, and something pricked her heart. Aly had been through so much. From Kelly's stories, she can tell that Aly coming to the Light moon pack is hard. She doesn't want to ask Aly because she's been on edge every time Rylie asks about it.

She hoped that Alpha Gab, Mace, Kelly, Hunter, and Reeves were ok. But she doubts it. Those witches swarmed them, and they were unprepared because of the ritual. Rylie blames herself for the whole mess, and she gripped Aly's back. But there's no use in blaming herself. The witches need to pay.
