'Then what should we do?' Nathan's voice snapped in anger.
Alpha Gab stared him down, and he lowered his gaze.
"S-Sorry Alpha Gab... I'm just worried about my daughter."
'We know what you all felt. But we can't help the kids right now. So I suggest we hire a scientist or scout for them from all the neighboring packs. Maybe there's a chance a scientist or a witch knows how this all works.'
'Lina knows how... I remembered that the leader of the were-witch mentioned her name, saying that she wasn't our ally.'
Aly fisted her fist.
Alpha Gab's eyebrows became knitted. 'Is this true?'
The Alpha scanned their faces, and Rylie remembered that the coven leader said that. But Aly bit his head off before finishing what he was about to say. At that time, they didn't think twice about what he said. Maybe he was just saying that to cast doubts on their minds and kill each other, giving him time to escape.
She knew that Aly hated the witches more than the were-witches, maybe because Aly thought that were-witches wouldn't come up in the first place if the witches didn't tamper with the natural ways.
'I think the coven leader said something along those lines.' Rylie added. 'But I didn't think about it because I thought he was just bidding his time to escape.'
Aly smiled at her, and Rylie bit her lip. She couldn't help but feel her cheeks aflame. Why did she notice Aly's blue eyes sparkling?
She needs to focus on the task at hand and not on Aly. Besides, they are still not on good terms.
Alpha Gab put a hand to her chin. Then she crossed her arms. 'If Lina is not on our side. Then there's a possibility that she has the vials.'
'What should we do to get it?' Kelly sighed. 'Aly, Rylie and the other members of our pack are not allowed on their compound. Alpha Gab, Nathan, Hanna, Hunter, Hilga and me are the only members of this council who are not bonded by their magic----'
Kelly stopped talking when she found they were all looking at her with a smile.
Rylie shook her head and smiled. Kelly's ramblings are helpful.
'That's it' Aly snapped her hands in the air. 'We can't go in there, but all of you can. One or two spies are enough to go in and out of their mansion undetected.'
'How? That place has a lot of wards and sigils.' Hunter stuck his tongue on his lower lip. Then he exhaled the breath he was holding. 'You know how smart Lina was. You fought alongside her.'
What Hunter said made sense. All their shoulders fell.
'What if we hire another witch? One who is willing to help the werewolf?' Nathan puts up his forefinger.
'Who?' Alpha Gab narrowed her eyes at him.
Rylie was curious too. A witch who is willing to help them? Lina was the first witch she had known, willing to help them, but it may turn out that Lina betrayed them and will continue what the coven leader was doing. Experimenting with werewolves to make a hybrid.
'How about Nora? She'll help with the right blood.' Hunter took a step forward.
Nora? Who's that? Rylie's gaze drifted from Aly to Alpha Gab and the rest of the members. They are looking at each other with somber expressions on their faces. It's like what they are about to do from that suggestion will cost them their lives.
'Nora?! Are you suggesting that heretic? She would have done anything to get her blood on Alpha Gab! We can't let that happen!' Aly almost went ballistic. Her voice boomed inside their heads. Almost identical to what Alpha Gab is doing with her Alpha voice.
Rylie reached out to stop Aly from lashing out. Aly looked at her hands, and she exhaled and inhaled a breath before turning away from Hunter, who took a step back.
Clearly, Hunter was also afraid of Aly. Now that they know that Aly is still an Alpha despite being a beta in the Light Moon pack.
But after all the commotion, Alpha Gab is still silent. She was biting her lip hard, and her eyebrows were knitted.
'Let's try it. Nora may be a heretic, but she's the only one who can help us. Then we'll take our chances.' Alpha Gab lifted her chin and smiled. 'It's alright. We just need the antidote. The vial for creating a hybrid is not so much.'
'So what's the plan, Alpha Gab?' Aly asked the Alpha.
Alpha Gab looked at her. 'First. Rylie had to write the steps of the antidote from Thomas's journal on another piece of notebook or paper. Then we will give it to Nora.'
Alpha Gab then looked at Kelly and Nathan. 'Second, Nathan and Kelly have to infiltrate Lina's mansion to find out if she is our ally or a traitor. Find out if she has the antidote or the vial for the hybrids.'
'Third, well... Rylie, have you discovered anything about the Lobo forms?'
Rylie looked at Kelly's reaction.
'You should say it.' Kelly's mind linked to her.
Rylie glared in Kelly's way. 'But we— '
'It's Alpha Gab, and I am one hundred per cent sure she wasn't a traitor. In fact, none of us here. We don't have the motive to take the vials.' Kelly's mind linked her.
Rylie sighed. Alpha Gab is looking at her intently, as well as Hunter and Aly.
'Fine.' Rylie took a deep breath. 'I have progressed towards the Lobo form. If a werewolf is angry or frustrated, I mean pure anger and desperation. We can summon the will to break free from any magical binds and make ourselves stronger.'
'That simple?' Aly tilted her head to the side. 'If that is what it will take, then we should have accessed our Lobo form by now.'
'What Rylie said was true. I was able to break free from a magical bind.' Kelly came to her rescue, and Rylie mouthed thank you to Kelly. 'I guess it comes from a powerful desire to do something about a hopeless situation. Like what I did when I broke free. I want to rescue Macey so badly.'
The rest of the council became silent after that.
As if they weighed what Kelly said.
Alpha Gab looked at her. 'Is this what you concluded to Rylie?'
Rylie nodded her head. Alpha Gab sighed. 'Alright. Hunter and Aly. Train with Rylie until she has to go back to her mother and grandmother. We need to know everything we can about the Lobo form. We shouldn't waste time. This meeting is over.'
They all bowed their heads before exiting the office of the Alpha.
Rylie walked beside Kelly even though she was tasked to be with Hunter and Aly. She needed to talk to Kelly first.
"I told you it should be kept a secret," Rylie whispered in Kelly's ear.
Kelly winced. "I'm sorry, Ry. We are loyal to the Alpha and don't keep secrets inside the pack. How long do you think we will survive if we keep secrets? Teamwork is vital in a pack, and we all need the information."
Rylie sighed. Kelly's right. Wolves are pack animals and operate in a team, so there's no way she shouldn't share it with the rest of the council.
"Ry?" Hunter gestured his head towards the training area. "Let's go. There are still 3 days left before you are off to school again. We need to train."
Kelly tapped her shoulder, and Rylie nodded her head before turning towards Aly and Hunter.
Aly was silent when they walked towards the training grounds. And Hunter had been eyeing both of them like he was third wheeling.
