(Rylie's POV)
'Rylie! Aly!'
Rylie whipped her head out of the cave. It's definitely Alpha Gab. How did they know that she and Aly were chased by a witch? Then it hit her. Aly must have mind-linked them of where they are before the latter passed out. That's why Alpha Gab is looking for them outside.
'In here!' She closed her eyes and imagined the cave they were hiding. Maybe Alpha Gab can also see what she sees if she concentrates enough.
'Where?'
Rylie immediately opened her eyes. Guess not.
"We are inside this cave!" She stood up and looked at Aly's sleeping face. She hates to leave Aly inside the cave for fear of snakes or other animals suddenly dragging Aly away, but she has no choice.
Rylie walks out of the cave, and Alpha Gab immediately saw them. There were several men and women from the pack who went with the Alpha. And Rylie can't help but exhaled the breath she was holding from earlier. At least now she knows they are already safe.
"Thanks to the Luna. You are ok." Alpha Gab held her shoulders and inspected her body. Before looking up and trying to see beyond the cave. "Where's Aly?"
"I-Inside the cave." Then she pinpoints towards it. Alpha Gab's eyes started glowing in bright yellow. The Alpha can now see better in the dark.
Rylie followed behind, walking cautiously as not to trip into any rock. She can see better with wolf senses intact on her human body but not as straightforward as being a wolf that could turn on its senses in full.
As they are nearing where she laid Aly. Rylie accidentally tripped on a rock. She shrieks loudly and before she hit the ground hard. A hand-held her up.
Rylie immediately flushed with embarrassment. Alpha Gab is smiling at her, and their faces are inches apart. She could have sworn those eyes twinkled in amusement. And Rylie avoided her face away.
"Careful there." Alpha Gab righted her up. Those strong hands sliding up her waist a little higher before she was released. "I take it you don't have control over your wolf. You can't turn on your own unless you can control it. But sadly, that's still 3 weeks from now. And you still have to train under Aly's guidance."
"Yeah. That sucks. I don't want to."
Alpha Gab's laughter echoed across the whole cave, and the other pack members looked at them. Maybe wondering what made the serious face, Alpha Gab laughed. Rylie bowed her head down. It felt so embarrassing.
-------------------
Alpha Gab carried Aly out of the cave. Rylie followed closely behind, glancing around, afraid that there are still witches nearby.
The Alpha noticed what she's doing and lightly chuckled again. Rylie squinted her eyes at Alpha Gab, but her shoulders started shaking more. Rylie gave Alpha Gab the stink eye. And the latter didn't stop herself from laughing hard.
Other members of the pack stared at them again, and Rylie bowed her head down.
"You're not afraid of the witches?" Rylie can't help but ask. She was curious because the witches are a deadly enemy in battle. Maybe that's why her father didn't expose the werewolf to the world. It will be easier for the witches to find them.
Then her eyes soften when she saw Aly's condition. There were bruises on Aly's skin that slowly faded, but a nasty gash still needed to be treated.
Alpha Gab shook her head. "We may not have their ability to wield magic, but our own body is magic. We still overpower them if we try. Plus, witches and werewolves are long-time enemies. We have our own way to outsmart them."
Rylie smiled. "Like the blood magick."
"Yes, that too." Alpha Gab smiled and look ahead.
And Rylie can't help but admire the Alpha. Maybe it's because she was an Alpha that Gab can say that she's not afraid of the witches.
When they are out of the cave. Alpha Gab looked at the other werewolves guarding the entrance. Rylie stood by the Alpha's side, and Carlo's relative looked at her with hatred. She unconsciously moved away, but Alpha Gab looked at her and shook her head.
Rylie almost jumps from where she was standing when Alpha Gab slowly leaned in towards her. Still carrying Aly in her arms.
Those big green eyes looked at her, and Rylie can't help but flashback from the time they met. Gabrielle had no intimidating aura when they first met, but right now, she can clearly see what those brats felt when Alpha Gab commanded them. She feels exactly the same. But she can't help her heart from pumping hard against her chest. Alpha Gab looked so beautiful, like a hot mess.
"Don't give them the satisfaction of intimidating you, Rylie. If they see that you are weak. They won't hesitate to go in for the kill. We are werewolves, after all. Instinct is our greatest weapon."
Rylie nodded and gulped. She didn't move away, but she still kept her distance and didn't look at Carlo's family. They must have been forced to come. But Rylie didn't miss the fact that Alpha Gab looked at Carlo's father and the old man stopped looking at her with hatred in his eyes. He avoided looking at her too.
"We need to bring Aly to the healer. All of you shift now, and we'll run to the pack."
It was an Alpha command that made Rylie wants to shift too. But Alpha Gab noticed her beginning to tremble and stopping herself from transforming.
"Don't transform. Rylie."
With that command, Rylie's body stopped trembling. And she looked at Alpha Gab with relief on her face. If she transforms right now. She will have to fight the urge to eat flesh and drink blood. She's not yet in control of her werewolf.
Alpha Gab looked at her, and for a moment, Rylie thought she saw concern but Alpha Gab quickly masked it with a serious expression on her face.
Her mouth hanged open when the Alpha gave the unconscious Aly to one of the pack members and turned towards her. Gabrielle smiled at her and started transforming before Rylie.
She looked around, and the whole pack looked at their exchange. Their gazes never waver from where the Alpha stood. She can't help but return her gaze to Alpha Gab, and the latter began to transform. Rylie tried to look away to give privacy but seeing Alpha Gab's transformation in all its glory made her look more.
Alpha Gab's clothes ripped open, and Rylie immediately blushed when she saw a flash peach pop open before it became fur. Blushing, she covered her eyes. She wants to knock her head with her fist a few times because she now has the decency to avert her eyes away after seeing those peaches.
"Let's go?"
"A-Are you fully transformed?"
She heard a chuckle, and paws started hitting the ground heavily. Removing her hands from her face, she saw that the pack had begun to turn towards the pack's location. It was only her and Gabrielle that is still left behind and a few people from the pack. And the one carrying Aly on its back.
Her eyes shifted towards the Alpha, and she gasped when she saw how beautiful Gab's fur color is. It contrasted with Aly's white fur. It was black like the night, but it was shimmering under the light, and it also looked so soft. She can't help but reach her hand out to touch it. It feels like the first time she saw Aly's wolf. There was something ethereal about the werewolf's transformation, and she wonders if she just has to stay as a werewolf to fight the witches with her newfound power.
"Hop in, Rylie."
She was snapped out of her trance when she heard Alpha Gab's voice. She looked around and felt her face get heated. She immediately hopped on Alpha Gab's werewolf and buried her face on the thick mane.
Then she felt the wind started to whipped her hair around as paws hit the ground heavily.
