Lina dropped a blood on her hands and wiped it on the soles of her feet. Before Rylie could utter a word. Lina floated in the air and grasped a bottle on the upper side of the shelf.
Her eyes widen and she opened her mouth out of amazement. Being a witch is awesome. They could do that with just a drop of a blood from the werewolf.
Kelly also had her mouth opened. "H-How on earth...."
Lina laughed and blew some dust on Kelly's face with a transparent bottle. There was a root of a plant inside that Rylie couldn't name. "I'm born lucky."
"Witches are amazing, really but I don't regret that I am a werewolf. You can't use your power after all if not for us." Kelly then looked at Rylie and wiggled her eyebrows.
Rylie lifted one side of her mouth. "But still. It's cool that witches had almost do anything with magic and with a drop of blood."
"You know why the witches needs a werewolf blood to do magic? They are both laws of nature. We can't use the human blood but some witches are practicing on how they could harness the blood of humans. It wasn't what nature granted. It's taboo. But the legends say that when the humans are in agony and pain it could be a powerful magic." Lina whispered it like someone could hear them.
Rylie shivered. She heard of witches doing rituals and killing humans in books but hearing it in the mouth of a witch as a legend, made her spine cold. It was possible that the witches are still out there experimenting on human blood.
Lina turned to look at the shelf of transparent bottles again. "But I don't want to do it. It's taboo for a reason. Must have a certain effect to a witch. You can't conjure out of nothing after all. It must have taken a toll."
"If it's against nature then why do they do it? Why are there heretic witches?"
Kelly suddenly had an interest in the subject. Rylie furrowed her eyebrows. Why is she asking that? Is it about Nora? How powerful the Heretic witch was? Or is it mere curiosity?
"Well... I don't know too. Unless I became a heretic witch." Lina bit her lip. "Why are you asking me that all of a sudden?"
"Remember, what you said about being unnatural? Well, werewolf also had that. They defy what the Moon Goddess designed." Kelly lowered her head down. "Some attempted to become powerful that they let a heretic witch tinker with their body. Doing enhancement that is out of the boundaries set by the Moon Goddess."
Rylie leaned in towards Kelly. "W-What do you mean?"
Lina furrowed her eyebrows and also focused her attention on Kelly. Her right hand stopped on a bottle of dried scale and she let her hands dropped on the side of her body. Her focus didn't waver from Kelly.
"Did you know what happened here in this town?" Kelly looked up.
Lina and her didn't say anything and waited for Kelly to say something.
Kelly leaned in. "There was a witch who was in love with a werewolf but this werewolf. She wants power beyond what the we normal werewolf possesses. She wants to become more powerful than the witches. They thought what they did was successful. But the werewolf lost control of herself and terrorize this town. The people were so angry that they hunted the werewolf and the witch down. Then they burned the werewolf on the stake. While her lover, the witch watched. But this witch didn't escape the wrath of the mood goddess. She was cursed to never have a child which she really wanted."
Lina shook her head after hearing that. "That's a legend. I already heard that from my grandma and my mother. They told that story to scare us. But it's true that there was an account of a werewolf being burned on the stake and other witches captured by the people."
"So it's true." Rylie said.
"But it wasn't what the context of the story. I told you that witches experimented with human blood? It was that day. They terrorize the whole town. But I don't know why there is a werewolf there too on the stake that day."
Rylie sighed. She doesn't know who she'll believe at this point. "Well, should we get going with the ritual? Time is of the essence here."
"But you looked curious too. So I thought you want to hear it. Besides, aren't you an archaeologist?" Kelly shrugged her shoulders.
Rylie rolled her eyes. "Yes but I'm throwing that out the window right now, because what's more important is what I could do for the Light moon pack. We need all the help we could get."
Lina smiled. "Well then..." She took another 3 bottle and tucked it all in her arms. "Follow me out of the back of the mansion."
Rylie looked at the insides of the transparent bottle and grimaced. There was a fur there on the latest 3 bottles Lina had taken and clumps of nails. And also some dusts.
They followed Lina on the way out of the back of the mansion. She immediately squinted when the lights hit her eyes. It appears that at the back of the mansion is a very well lit garden. There were benches on the side and the whole place feels like a garden full of roses and trees of apples.
"Wow!" Kelly looked around. "This places is like a garden with trees! I never thought that you are the type to plant. Plus, this place is so bright. Inside the mansion is so depressing and gloomy."
Lina rolled her eyes. "You think that we are gloomy creatures but good witches can create light and good magic."
After saying that Lina rubbed a blood on her hands from the bottle and turned her fingers swiftly. An apple from the tree started to float towards them. Until Lina catches it.
Lina took a bite and walked to an area with a circle. "Let's go. This is where I'll create a pseudo moon for you."
They followed the priestess to the circle and as they got closer and closer to it. Rylie saw the symbols on the inner circle.
"Sit on the side. This could be very messy." Lina pointed to a bench near the circle. Then she sat on another circle just above the first circle.
The high priestess then opened the bottle she took from the shelf.
Rylie looked on with curiosity. This is the first time she'll see a witch do a casting spell with herbs and materials. Unlike, the were-witches who only uses blood to cast a spell. Or maybe it is different if you are creating something.
Just before Lina could start the ritual. A couple of kids with long white robe suddenly ran towards them. They sat circled on the floor watching Lina. One witch guiding the kids wore a black robe and watched too.
It seems that the high priestess is highly regarded in their coven. Rylie smiled. Lina had a snarky attitude but as she can see. The witch can't resist people in need.
Lina opened the first bottle. It was the bottle of dust and clumped it in a circle. Then the witch turned towards her. "How many pseudo moon do you need?"
She looked at Kelly.
"P-Probably 30." Kelly answered for her.
"Rylie?" Lina asked her.
"Y-Yes 30. Maybe that would do."
That's 1 month. Her wolf said and huffed. Are you going to cripple me?
Shut up. We need this for the whole tribe. Besides I am the human and I get to decide.
Just so you know. The side effect of fighting the Lobo form and gaining it's power is corruption. You are willing to do that?
Yes. Whatever it takes.
You are a stubborn one. Are you?
After that her wolf didn't say anything. It was silence inside Rylie's mind. She wished there's other way but if the witches are this powerful. They need more power to overcome them and win the war.
