CHAPTER 84

It was already 2 days since that incident, and Rylie didn't sleep. She was still wondering who did it to that man. She was set to investigate, but Alpha Gab told her to wait. She was sure that it was the were-witches because werewolves or even rogue werewolves wouldn't try to display that gruesome killing. It was too much. And the witch's way of killing is not like that.

The image of the man hadn't left her mind until dinner. So she excused herself early from her mother and grandmother because all she could think about was the blood on the ground and the hollow eyes as they stared into nothingness. She would always imagine the soup she was eating was blood, making her throw up.

Rylie put the pen down when she heard a rustle outside the woods. It was as if whoever did it was trying to attract her attention. She stood up and carefully made her way to the window.

She put her hands on the window sill and looked down.

'Rylie.'

She whipped her head around.

Rylie bit her lip and put a hand to her heart when she saw Aly standing on the ground.

Mate...

"A-Aly? What are you doing here?"

Her eyes widened as she looked at Aly's white wolf. It was gazing at her with its blue eyes, and Rylie almost swooned. Those blue eyes became bluer with the moon's light shining upon them. Aly is so pretty, and her wolf now howls with excitement as she gazes longer at Aly.

But she needs to stop her wolf, or she will tackle Aly right now. She doesn't realize that she missed Aly so much. Now that she gets to gaze at those blue eyes again.

'Alpha Gab sent me. She wants me to investigate what happened on your campus.'

Rylie sets her lips in a thin line. She was on a mission. This is why they haven't consumed their mate bond. They still need to settle things before they can be together. But she can't help but think about the first time Aly touched her. It made her lower region ache.

Her heart started beating fast, and she felt her cheeks flare up. She bit her lip and looked back at her door. It was a good thing that her mother and grandmother were now fast asleep, or they would ask her what was happening in her room right now.

She shook her head, for goodness sake. Aly is here for the mission and not for her.

But the desire in Aly's eyes became evident, and Rylie realized that Aly must have sensed her desires flaring up. Those blue eyes got darker.

"C-Come up here. Don't just stand there."

Aly's white wolf quirks its lips up in a corner. 'I want to, but we need to investigate, or it will all be futile.'

Rylie nodded her head. "All right. I'll come down.'

She put her foot down on the window sill and lifted her whole body. Then she jumped. Just before her feet hit the ground, it became a paw. Her whole body transformed into her grey werewolf.

'Let's go.'

Aly started running in the direction of the campus, and Rylie followed behind. She looked back at her mother's house and winced. She was breaking her mother's rules again.

'Are we going back before the sunrise?'

Aly looked at her and nodded her head. 'Don't worry. They won't find out that you are breaking their rules again.'

Then she heard a chuckle from Aly's wolf. Rylie rolled her eyes. Aly's good-natured sense of humour may have attracted Rylie to her.

'What have you been doing these past few days? Did you give the formula to the were-witch?'
