Aly's POV
Aly hasn't been able to truly trust Lina even though the witch is helping them. Maybe it's because of a century of hatred and bloody wars between them that made it so hard to trust them.
"How did you do that?" Aly looked at the cloth with a furrowed eyebrow and looked at Lina's face. "Do you really have that type of magic? Then why did the other witches don't do this to locate more werewolves?"
Lina smiled at what she said and puffed her chest out. "This is our own spells. The other witches don't know this, but we are constantly doing an experiment with our magic. I believe that we can still improve the way we are living as witches."
Aly stood up straighter and shook her head.
Lina is more dangerous than the average witch. Good thing that she was using it for good, or they would have a powerful enemy.
"So you mean to say that as werewolves, we adapted by using human weapons as an extension to our limit in using magic. Is that what it is?"
Lina shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know why you werewolves took that route. For me, it's stupid."
Aly showed her teeth but chose not to say anything. But her patience with the witch is already thinning.
"You two stop bickering." Elder Tristan stood in between them. "What's the plan?"
"If I may suggest." Lina looked at Elder Tristan. "I will locate them. Get back here and lead you to their location. In the meantime, you can plan a course of attack. Not some stupid idea of luring them out and sacrificing one of our own."
Aly bit her lip and tilted her head. Why is Lina always out to get her head? What had she done to this witch? And sacrificing one of their own? As if she was part of the pack. They have a coven, for goodness sake!
All of the people in their group looked at her. Aly met Lina's eyes. She won't back down if it comes down to this. But she thinks that the witch has a point, so she averts, staring at Lina with a pissed-off look on her face.
"Alright. The witch has a point. Let her locate the location. I'll just train Rylie in the meantime. She's newly awakened, and it would be hard for her to fight if not properly trained."
She beckons for Rylie to come with her.
Rylie took her outstretched hands, and Aly's heartbeat started beating fast. She knew it wasn't the right time, but every time they touched her wolf wouldn't sit still inside her mind. Maybe it's the default for having a mate.
"We will plan the attack and tell you what we agreed upon." Elder Tristan leads the pack and the coven of witches inside the Alpha's cabin.
Aly nodded to them and led Rylie to another part of the pack's location.
"D-Do you think we have the time to train, Aly?" Rylie asked her.
Aly shook her head. "You are not ready for it, Rylie, but if you want to come with us to help. You at least needed some formal training with your wolf's instinct to get a chance of beating a witch."
Plus, she knew too damn well that she wouldn't be able to let Rylie fight on her own. She just needs to train her enough to use her ability to the most of its capacity.
"Are you sure we can trust, Lina?" Aly instead ask.
Rylie nodded her head. "I think so. She hadn't done anything but help us. Why? You don't trust her?"
Aly couldn't help but shake her head. Witches had a bad reputation among the werewolves. It was hard for her to believe that the Raven Crest Elders had been helped by Lina for five years now. She won't be surprised if they have their memories altered. But, indeed, she was also gone for five years. If what Lina's saying is true, then she's glad that the Raven Crest had a powerful ally on their side.
"I-I just can't for now. I didn't live with them for five years. It's hard for my brain to comprehend."
Aly looked at Rylie's face when she felt a hand intertwined on her own.
"We have no choice, Aly."
"I know." And that worries Aly.
She and Rylie came to the ground where they started training weeks ago. She smiled and remembered how Kelly and Hunter would prepare Rylie whenever she was not around. But it quickly vanished as soon as she remembered that they had been captured, and she hoped that by now they weren't dead.
She felt rest assured that Kelly and Hunter were alive when she didn't see their body out there on the ritual grounds and on the way here. But she can't be too sure when it comes to the witches.
Her fist closed tightly. No matter what, she needs to rescue them and kill some of the witches. She can't let their genocide of the werewolves' race continue.
"Rylie."
Rylie looked up, and Aly saw that she had the same expression as hers. Maybe she remembered Kelly and Hunter teaching her how to fight.
"Let's start." Rylie gritted her teeth. "What should I do first?"
Aly's lips quirk up in a corner. Rylie is a lot braver now than the first she met her. She thought that Rylie couldn't survive being a werewolf for so long, but she had already proven her tenacity.
She took a fighting stance. "Don't let the witches intimidate you. Don't let them see that they are making you weak, or they will go for the kill."
Rylie started circling her. She also did a fighting stance and didn't take her eyes away from her. Good. She has some instinct kicking in. She's already proud that Rylie was able to learn a lot in a month.
Aly aimed for Rylie's head and kicked, but the latter could evade it by ducking down. Before Aly knew it, Rylie kicked her feet, and Aly stumbled on the ground.
She flopped down on her bottom with a thud, and she felt her lower body ache. But she stood up quickly.
Rylie bit her lip and tried to help her by reaching out a hand, but Aly put a handout, stopping her. She opened her left eye and looked in Rylie's way. She just got her ass handed to her by a newbie. She must admit that in another year or so. Rylie would be able to beat her.
"You don't help the witch at all cost."
Rylie must have realized what she said and shook her head. "Should I go for the kill now?"
Aly did a backflip to get away from Rylie and put her hands on the ground. "If you could."
Rylie started to run towards her and aimed for her head.
Aly evaded it by dodging to her side. She was also able to grab Rylie's hands, and she swung Rylie to the side. Rylie's eyes became wide, and she was able to stop her downward motion by putting all her weight on her right foot.
"You are really getting good at fighting, Rylie," Aly smirked. "You are becoming a natural."
Rylie didn't say anything but gritted her teeth then started running in her direction again.
Aly smiled. "Surprised them when they least expect it."
Then when Rylie was about one foot from her. Aly transformed into her complete werewolf form. Clothes ripped in the process, and Rylie was so shocked that she could not move for a moment. A breath away before Aly almost cut her head clean off with a bite.
Rylie was thankfully able to jump back.
You should also be able to surprise them like this.
"That's a neat trick." Rylie smiled.
Aly put her paws on the ground and ran towards Rylie. And to her surprise. Rylie also transformed before her. But she couldn't stop her motion, so she skidded her paws and butted her head in Rylie's body. Her head and Rylie's mid-body connected, and the force was so strong that Rylie was knocked to the other side of a tree mid-transformation.
Rylie shook her head when she got up, and dust fell off from her fur. Then before Aly could react. She was stunned when Rylie's wolf looked at her with an aggressive snarl.
I'll kill you.
Aly took a step back. That's not Rylie at all, is it? Did she let her werewolf take over?
