"Jesseth? Are you ready?" Rylie popped up from Jesseth's small bedroom. It was made for her the moment she wanted to have a room for herself.
"Yes, Mommy." Jesseth emerged from the room in a blue sundress and it made Rylie's heart warm. She looked so cute with a ribbon still not properly tied on the back.
"W-What do you think, Mommy?" Jesseth turned around and before Rylie could say anything. Aly came into the room and gasps.
"Aw! You looked so cute, baby!"
Rylie shook her head when Aly scooped Jesseth on her arms and lifted her. Jesseth lowered her head and her face blushed.
"M-Mama! P-Put me down!" Jsesseth tapped Aly's arms but the blue eyed still chuckling went out of the room and outside their small cabin.
Rylie shook her head again and followed them outside. She took the picnic basket and walked side by side with Aly.
They were almost out of the pack's location when they saw Alpha Gab. The Alpha had her hands behind her back and Rylie couldn't help but stop as soon as the Alpha saw them.
Aly looked at her then back to the Alpha.
Alpha Gab had a sad expression on her face. But as soon as she realized that she was making that face, the Alpha smiled at them.
"Off to picnic?"
"Y-Yes, Alpha." Aly answered for her because she was too stunned to speak. She wished that the Alpha can found her mate. So that the residual attraction she had with Rylie would disappear.
"Enjoy." Alpha Gab turned her back on them and went towards the Alpha's office.
Aly sighed as soon as they are out of the pack's location. "I think we need to set up the Alpha with someone. Maybe she'll find her true mate by mingling with others."
"I know." Rylie bit her lip. "I don't want to hurt her but you are the one I will choose everyday Aly. Alpha Gab had been good to me but knowing what I know now and knowing how I feel. I will always choose you."
Aly smiled at her. "I know."
"But it wasn't a bad idea. Maybe it could work." Rylie snapped her fingers in the air. They are already civilized and the neighboring packs had agreed to host a get together gathering to give chances to others of finding their true mates and second chance mate.
"I'm glad you agreed."
"Mama?" Jesseth peered from Aly's shoulder. "Where are we going?"
Rylie lifted the basket in her hands and showed it to Jesseth. "We are going on a picnic, but before that. I want you to meet a very special person."
Aly pursed her lips. They are going to visit Kelly's grave today and hopefully make Jesseth understand that they still loved her despite the fact that she didn't come out of them.
"A very special person?"
Aly nodded her head. "She looked just like you and she's amazing and brave."
Jesseth's eyes sparkled and Rylie right then and there started tearing up. She missed Kelly. She missed their banter and how they are able to support each other. Now Kelly's gone and she will never hear from her again. This is the legacy Kelly's bravery had done. Jesseth will now have a normal childhood and Macey and the others are able to go back to normal.
She was always thankful for what Kelly choose that day.
"Wow! That's amazing!" Jesseth clapped her hands. "Where is she Mommy?"
"She's here." Rylie walked towards the grave where they buried the dead werewolves.
Aly lowered Jesseth on the ground. And the little girl looked all around her eyebrows scrunched up. "Where is she Mommy?"
"Here, baby." Aly held Jesseths's hands and went towards Kelly's grave.
Jesseth looked up at Rylie and Rylie couldn't help the tears that made its way to her eyes. She lowered her body to caressed Jesseth's head.
"Mommy? Why are you crying?" Jesseth caressed her cheeks and wiped the tears away.
Aly looked at her with a sad expression on her face. "Because the woman buried here is very dear to our hearts."
Jesseth looked at the grave. "Why?"
"Baby." Rylie held Jesseths's shoulders and the child looked at her. Rylie didn't let Jesseth's eyes wander. "Listen to me. I want you to know the truth early on. You ever wonder why you don't look like us?"
Jesseth nodded her head. There was a sad expression on the little girl's face.
"Because....you are her baby." After saying that she looked at the grave. Jesseth followed where she was looking.
Aly looked away.
It was breaking Rylie's heart as realization dawn on the 6 years old face. Jesseth pouted her lips and tears started to form in her eyes.
"Y-You don't want me anymore?"
Rylie immediately shook her head. "N-No baby. You are our baby even if you didn't come out of us. We love you the same. But I just want you to know who your real mother is. She's brave and intelligent just like you. She's our dear friend."
"So I have 3 Mommies?"
Aly nodded her head and crouched low to look in Jesseth's eyes. "Yes, and one of them is in heaven but that doesn't mean that she didn't love you the same."
Jesseth's tiny arms snaked their way to Rylie's neck. "I love you, Mommy and I love Mommy Kelly too!"
"And we love you too so much." Rylie lifted Jesseth off the ground and planted a kiss on her forehead. The little girl giggled and Rylie looked at Kelly's grave. The dew from the flowers that they had put on Kelly's grave cascaded down the grave and dropped on Kelly's name.
Rest in peace, Kelly. Thank you for the bravery.
"Are you ok?" Aly looked at her as soon as they are out of the graveyard.
Rylie nodded her head. But there was still a ghost of sadness in her eyes. If only Kelly is alive. They would be happy to take in Jesseth from time to time. Not that they are unhappy with Jesseth but it would be so much better if Kelly is here. But she knew they had to move forward.
"I will be ok. We will be ok." Rylie said and it made Aly smiled.
"We will." Aly then looked back one last time at the grave and so is Rylie.
