Chapter Six

As they were walking through the desert, halfway to Yuba the group started complaining about the heat, well minus (Y/n) and Vivi. Chopper was going in and out of a heat coma as (Y/n) fanned him.
"I can't take...this heat." Luffy groaned.
"Just hang in there."
"Stop complaining and walk." Usopp and Nami said from behind the captain.
"You two don't seem to mind this at all." Zoro commented, looking at (Y/n) who wasn't sweating or looking tired.

"The two of us grew up in Alabasta, this heat is nothing to us."
"Besides we used to play around at the hottest time during the day." The blue-haired girl shrugged.
"Why are there so many dunes here?" Nami wondered, looking around the place.
"This is an ancient desert." Vivi answered.
"The dunes are pretty high here. The biggest recorded ones are over a thousand feet tall." (Y/n) finished as Usopp looked at her in shock.
"A thousand?! That's a mountain, not a dune!"
"I guess? I am so used to them that they became normal."

"Water... need water..."
(Y/n) turned her attention to the captain as he took the barrel out.
"Just don't drink too much, Luffy. It's the water for the whole group, and we are not even close to Yuba yet."
(Y/n)'s words were left unheard by the black-haired captain as he took a large gulp of water, causing Usopp and Nami to punch him.
"Just drink enough to wet your lips!"
"I wanted to take a sip too! What you took was like 13 gulps!"
"No way, Usopp! You just drank!" Sanji yelled at the sniper, causing a huge fight between them.

"Good God..." (Y/n) commented as Zoro facepalmed.
"Stop wasting your energy like this!" Vivi added in.
"Idiots..."
The green-haired swordsman shook his head, continuing his walk.
"So hot..."
Looking down at the reindeer, (Y/n) smiled softly at him and followed after Zoro.
"We will find some shade soon, don't worry."
"We will?"
Came the question from the swordsman as they both walked side by side, ignoring the loud yelling from their friends.

"Yeah, soon we will come across crags, they offer a lot of shadow during this time of the day." The girl explained.
"Can't...wait..." Chopper cheered, exhausted from the heat.
"Get it together." Zoro said, a little annoyed at the closeness the animal had with (Y/n).
'Why do I even care? She is completely neutral to the idea of us leaving and her staying once everything is over.' The older huffed a little as the group finally stopped arguing and caught up to them.

"Finally stopped arguing?"
Vivi nodded at (Y/n)'s question, wrapping an arm around her shoulders
"Yeah, it took Luffy and Sanji realizing you, Zoro and Chopper were gone."
The two laughed a little as the cook and swordsman were glaring at each other.
"What were you doing alone with (Y/n)? Trying to make a move or something?" Sanji asked, annoyed at Zoro.
"I don't know what you are talking about. I could care less about her annoying ass." Zoro glared back.
"You bastard! I will fry you!"
"Come at me, perverted cook!"
"Stop it!" Nami yelled before they could start a fight as well.
"We will never arrive to Yuba like this." Usopp sighed as Luffy laughed at his friends.

A little while later they started walking again in silence, with Luffy's complaints being heard from time to time as he had to carry everyone's stuff.
'They are quite an interesting bunch. They don't act like most pirate crews I came across or heard of.' (Y/n) smiled to herself as she walked alongside Luffy, not wanting to leave him alone, as the rest were far in front of them.

"Heavy...why did I have to lose that stupid game..." Luffy whined as (Y/n) smiled at him in sympathy.
"I can always help you carrying-"
"No! I mean, I can do that alone! Don't worry about it." Luffy said quickly, shaking his head at the idea.
"How are you doing Chopper?" The captain asked as (Y/n) looked at the doctor.
"I am a lot better, thanks for the wet cloth, (Y/n)!" The reindeer smiled, pointing at the wet item wrapped around his head.

"Welcome, just take it off before the night falls. The nights in the desert are very cold." The girl said as the animal nodded his head, still enjoying the coldness the cloth provided him with.
As they walked, Luffy kept sending (Y/n) a few glances, her words from earlier still haunting him.
'Is she happy that we will leave? Does she not have any plans on stopping us, or asking to join the crew? I am sure she would enjoy it with me...us more! Every day is a new adventure! Unlike in this boring place.' Luffy clenched his fists as he thought about the time when they will have to part.
'Kidnapping may work? It's not like her brother or the royal family can do anything once we are out on sea-'
