🦋40 years prior to the current timeline...🦋
Sengoku was known among the Marine as a very respectable man who enjoyed his job. So when the news of him having a son broke out among his fellow Marine, they were all sure that his son would become as strong and as dedicated as him. Sengoku was sure of it, too, at first.
After all, the boy had his genes and his knowledge to learn from. In his mind, there was nothing stopping (F/n) from becoming a future admiral or even fleet admiral. But, what Sengoku didn't take into account was the fact that his son, as dedicated and smart as he was, wasn't someone who particularly liked the idea of being at sea, chase down pirates or other criminals, nor did he particularly want to be part of the whole World Government machine.
Sengoku had to come to the conclusion that his son, for the lack of better words, was too soft. Too soft-spoken, shy, and overall more into books and science. Which wasn't a bad thing until he started asking questions.
'Why does the World Government not come up with something to end the hunger in the world?'
'Why don't the government work rehabilitating people instead of punishing them in such a gruesome way?'
'Why doesn't the World Government use their resources in finding scientists that can end some possibly preventable diseases?'
Were just some of the questions Sengoku could recall from the top of his head.
And while at first, an answer like 'that's just how the world works now' was enough to stop (F/n)'s curiosity, now he couldn't use it anymore because the answer would be followed by too many why questions.
This whole attitude (F/n) had been displaying in recent years was starting to get on Sengoku's nerves, the Marine official had to admit. The man had to resort to keeping the boy on an island kilometers and kilometers away from the Marine headquarters with a few people to watch over him.
(F/n) would usually never listen to him when it came to becoming a Marine member, so a few people repeating that goal to a child should have done the trick, right? Having people there train him 24/7 would have been enough to change his mindset, right? Well, no, it was not. Sengoku, only now while reading the reports for the past year, was enough to prove to him that his son was a failure. The maid who had been hired to take care of (F/n)'s well-being and health nervously watched as the man's knuckles turned whiter the more he read everything.
'This isn't good at all.' She thought, internally praying for (F/n).
"Sen-"
"Where is he now?" The man asked, causing the woman to flinch at his harsh tone.
"(F/n)-san has been in his room the whole day. He found an interesting chemistry book and he-"
While the woman tried to lighten the mood, it did little to help. Sengoku got up from his seat rather quickly and made his way towards the door.
"Sengoku-sama, please listen. The boy is doing his best. Maybe becoming a Marine admiral isn't his fate -"
"I hired you to feed and cloth him, not to give me parental advice."
Gulping, the woman nodded her head and quickly looked away as Sengoku sent her a glare before he left the room.
'That little brat. One year, and you still can't do the most basic things. I will teach you what happens when you act out.' Sengoku thought as he made his way down the hallway.
