Btw, (Y/n) is 19 years old in the pre-timskip timeline!!
Also I made her 173 cm tall, and I changed up some of the ages of the characters. Pell for example is now around 25 in the pre-timeskip.

Alabasta...
"Is that the demon child?"
"Yeah, it is. She makes friends with bugs and stuff."
"No wonder nobody wants to be around her. She either sticks to those insects or books."
"Why did Koza's family even take her in to begin with?"
The 7-year-old (Y/n) gripped tightly onto her book as a few of the village kids kept on laughing from behind her. She groaned as another (f/c) butterfly ended up landing on her nose. Sighing, she took the insect into her hand, watching as it disappeared into it, then went back to her book.

"Freak!" The kids yelled, running off in fear as (Y/n) paid them no mind, at this point she was used to the weird reactions she was getting.
'They could at least say those things to my face... Now, where was I... Cures for monarch butterflies...'
(Y/n) continued reading her book as the insects flew around her and disappeared into her body, before reappearing again.
'I really need to figure out how this devil fruit works.'

For the next couple of weeks (Y/n) wouldn't leave her room, only to eat and help her mom out if she asked. She would just keep to herself and read in there worrying the parents, but more importantly Koza. In the beginning, the boy wasn't too excited about having a sibling, especially one who wasn't even familiar with Alabasta or the dangers that lurked outside. Above all, he hated the fact that he had to share the attention of his parents, and that fact made him resent (Y/n) for a very long time. He didn't understand why his father was more cautious of his words around her, or why his mom would tell her to not carry heavy things. He had to do it, so why didn't she have to?!

'Is it because she ate one of those devil fruits?'
Koza huffed, ignoring the small pang of worry as his mom pulled (Y/n) out of her room to go and buy some things on the market.
"Here is your money. Now be back before the sunsets, ok?" The woman asked as Koza watched (Y/n) slowly nod her head, looking anxiously at the door.
Quietly, (Y/n) walked out of the house as his mom watched her in sadness.
"I wish to get through to her..."
Koza watched his mom walk to the kitchen and he quickly ran out of the house, determined to figure out what the issue was.

Unfamiliar rage filled up Koza's body as he watched (Y/n) getting cornered by some of the kids from their neighborhood. It was a quite unfair situation, not only were there 6 of them, but they were also by far stronger, and (Y/n) was quite weak.
"Is the freak finally coming out to collect bugs again?"

"Or did Koza's family finally grow sick and tired of you?"
"With all those diseases her bugs carry, I would have thrown her out the first night!" Some of them laughed as one of the boys walked up to (Y/n), pulling on her hair.
"Why don't you speak?! Just because you are a freak doesn't mean you can't speak." The boy argued.
Koza's eyes widened before slowly narrowing as he slowly made his way towards them.
"They aren't just some bugs..."
(Y/n) muttered back, tired of all the nasty comments. She just wanted to go back to her room and never get out.

"And what are they-"
"They are butterflies. Just because you are dumb, doesn't mean you are blind, too."
The kids along with (Y/n) looked at Koza in surprise, shivering at the cold loom the taller boy was sending them.
"K-Koza, I-"
The boy started stuttering as the rest moved away a little, knowing the boy was a lot stronger than them.
"Move your hands away from my sister, before I break it." Koza warned as he walked up to them, the boy instinctively moved his hand away from (Y/n)'s hair.
"I...sorry! We won't do it again!" The boy quickly yelled as his friend group ran off with him. (Y/n) kept on looking at the ground as Koza went to pick up the groceries, his body still shaking in anger as he sent (Y/n) a few glances.

"Let's go home. Mom will be worried if we are late."
The (h/c) girl looked at Koza, who held his hand out in front of her.
"Come on." The boy said softly as (Y/n) nodded her head, grabbing his hand and letting him pull her along.
