Ace and Rengoku walk into a room together. Call that a shish kebab

"Hmm... "
(Y/n) looked up at the smaller gate that stood in front of the Gates of justice. It was nothing special. It had the normal arc like any other gate had, with the only difference being a golden statue of the World Government's symbol on top of it.
(Y/n) didn't know what it was that made her disgusted by the symbol. She didn't like it ever since she first saw it as a child, and she never failed to point out her opinion on it. Even if it was to the detriment of a government official or Marine member hearing her. When that would happen, (Y/n) usually had Koza, Vivi, Chaka, or Igaram bail her out of any trouble. Now that she thought of it, she realized that even King Cobra would pull her out of her own messes, just one person never did. He just silently stood by.
He was watching as she would get scolded or questioned by a higher up official. Only watching. Sometimes, he would even be loud enough to say her name for the people to know who said that.
'Pell... Now that I think of it, he never stood up for me when I would get in trouble. Nor that I expected him to do that, but when everyone else would, why didn't he do it? He seemed to he even gleeful when a Marine official would scold me.'
(Y/n) could feel her heart break at the memories. Although she promised herself that she would get over him, it wasn't as easy as she initially believed.
'Now that I am rewinding it all...'
🦋🦋Alabasta, six years ago🦋🦋
Alabasta was oddly more lively than usually or so it looked like. To a tourist, pirate, or random pirate, it looked like a perfect spot with cheerful people, but (Y/n) knew better. Although she originally wasn't from Alabasta, she became naturalized. She came to know the people and how they would act. Especially in the capital.
The morning had started off normal or as normal as it could. (Y/n) had left her home at dawn to spend some time at the library in the royal palace before she would spend some time with Vivi. To her surprise, the library was all cleaned up and weirdly decorated, but she chose to ignore it since it didn't interfere with anything she was planning to do. The guards and servants didn't bother or disturb her much since they were used to her being there. (Y/n) herself wasn't sure how long she was in the library when she was interrupted by the odd sound of fanfare outside.
"Huh? Fanfare? At this time of the day?"
(Y/n) raised an eyebrow as she set her book aside and got up from her seat to investigate what was going on.
'Does it have to do with the weird behavior of the people?'
"Mrs. Terracotta, what's going on here? Why are there fanfare outside?" (Y/n) asked as she saw the blonde woman giving away some order to the servants. The older woman looked at her in surprise for a moment before smiling.
"Oh, (Y/n)? Why are you out of the library? You usually stay there until noon."
"I heard that fanfare outside. What is going on?"
The woman looked at her nervously as the servants walked away as quickly as they could.
"That? Uhm... Promise me that you won't let your mouth take the better out of you when I tell you this?"
The girl raised her eyebrow but nodded her head anyway.
"Sure. What is it?"
"We have some special guests today. You heard of the Calestial dragons, right?"
The girl flinched at the name. Of course, she heard of them.
'Those spoiled brats from Mary Geoise? The ones who treat people like objects? They are here?!'
(Y/n) was surprised by the anger she felt at the moment but quickly tried to swallow it down.
"Yeah, those people who can't be bothered to wipe their own asses. Why are they here?"
Terracotta laughed nervously as she felt the anger radiate off of the girl.
"Well, because Alabasta is one of the founding members of the World Government, we have to host them while they are visiting us."
"Ok, that's no reason to be so nervous, Mrs. Terracotta. What's the issue?" She inquired more. The woman kept quiet for a moment before she sighed in defeat, patting her head.
