Chapter Eleven

"Why are you freaking out? What is it about?" Usopp questioned as the attention was being shifted between him, (Y/n) and Crocodile. Nami and Vivi looked at each other in confusion as Luffy finally spoke up.
"Say, what is that syndrome even about?"
"Yeah, you guys look like a deadman crawled out of the ground." Zoro raised his eyebrow, wondering what had them so panicked.

"That... how did you even do that research? Anybody who had it died already." Smoker argued, getting up from his seat to look at (Y/n)'s figure.
"It's...it's a long story... but how do you know about it? I never told anyone!" (Y/n) turned her attention back to Crocodile as he chuckled.
"I have my ways, so it is true then. Imagine what the World Government might do if that comes out to the public. Hearing that people got killed for no reason will put people in quite a rage."

"Killed?! Who got killed?!" Nami wondered. (Y/n) sighed, growing frustrated from their stares and also from the fact that now a marine member himself knows of it.
"You see...years ago there was a small country in the North blue that was affected by the syndrome, it greatly affected their lifespan and..." (Y/n) started explaining, clenching her fists as she remembers the story her grandfather told her.
"Then word spread that the syndrome was contagious and people... the World government and the Nobels ordered a mass execution of the people."

"Ex-execution?!" Usopp and Nami exclaimed as Zoro cleared his throat, looking at Smoker.
"Based on your reaction you seem to know quite a lot about that." Zoro said as Smoker kept quiet. (Y/n) clenched her fists as she quickly sat up from her chair and glared at the marine captain, pointing her finger at him.
"You,just like the rest of the higher ups are well aware what the World Government did that day! Hundreds and hundreds of people died because of everyone's fear-mongering!"

The pirates and Vivi kept quiet, unsure what exactly was going on, while Crocodile looked like he enjoyed the chaos he created.
"The Government had no choice. I do not agree with people dying, but it would you rather for the disease to be spread-"
"It was spread the moment the Amber lead was distributed out of Flevance!" (Y/n) yelled out, shutting the marine captain up.
"Those people who were killed could have been cured. They were not a danger to anyone but themselves! People, who were suffering from the Amber lead syndrome were never contagious, and the World government knows this very well!"

Smoker's eyes widened as Crocodile listened to that carefully, for the first time hearing another theory on it. (Y/n) clenched her fists and took a deep breath to calm down, carefully picking her next words.
"My... my grandfather worked very hard to start the study, and sadly he never got to see how far I have come with it. I am not letting anyone see it till it's not finished, especially you Crocodile."
(Y/n) glared down at the Warlord. The pirates kept quiet for a good moment, trying to process everything (Y/n) had just said.

"So... all this time you used to spend in the library at the palace... was to search up on it?" Vivi questioned.
"Yeah... I knew if any library had books on Flevance and the syndrome, it had to be the one in Alubarna. The disease is still out here plaguing people to a degree, Amber lead was put in everything. From food to furniture, it was sent out to the rest of the World, I promised myself to find a cure for it. For my grandfather and to prove the lies the Government spread for years." (Y/n) said quietly, the memory of the deceased man still haunting her, wishing she had been stronger to protect him.

'That God-forsaken Government will pay for destroying my life. And the Government will be exposed for all their lies, I will make sure of it.'
The sound of Crocodile getting up from his chair and walking over to (Y/n), grabbing her face.
"Hey!" Nami protested, Luffy clenching his fists as he watched the scene.
"As much as that is cute and sentimental, I don't care. You will show me those documents, whether you want to or not. After all, when this country falls..." Crocodile started speaking, not noticing (Y/n) pulling something out of her coat.
'A syringe?' The group wondered, watching (Y/n) glared at the unsuspecting man.
