I understand there is going to be a new girl joining us today. I have been asked by the Sergeant to take care of her and she's around camp. She's a little younger than me and Bulldog Jr. Our fathers were at this exact camp over twenty years ago where they met the fifteen year old Hope Evans, now Kingsley. We've heard a lot of stories about her mother. As well as her father, who served alongside our fathers.
We were kept out of the limelight whilst we were growing up, and only saw our fathers when they were on leave or big at camp helping teenagers overcoming their bullies and according to my father Hope also trained alongside them until something happened with Cameron Stevens; Carly's paternal father. No one speaks of him nowadays; he is regarded as an embarrassment to the army core.
Hope had set this safe haven for kids like she once was ten years ago. I've seen a lot of kids come and go over the years. Many who arrive down hearted and out of luck go home with their heads held high and show their bullies hell. Those are the ones who come back every year to tell their story to the new campers. Those who don't get such luck return year after year.
I understand Carly is different from all the others here. She actually stood up to her bully for saying something that she never mentioned. She only has a select few friends at school and everyone finds her weird. I'll be judge of that when I finally get to meet her, which is in another ten minutes. I believe she's in with our Sergeant. We'll, good luck . He's strict with the campers, so there will be no slacking. He's the devil in disguise. His brother was the Sergeant here when Hope Evans was there.
He agreed to help Hope with the camp as his brother had moved away because he couldn't bear to see Hope with the guy who bullied her. He couldn't bear the heart ache so he got up and left.
I guess we all have made sacrifices for the ones we love.

I looked over at the sixteen-year-old girl sitting across from me. I can't believe how much she has grown up. Hope sure does a good job raising her. Let's just hope that she doesn't turn out like her good for nothing father. No one dares speak his name here. He dishonored the army and the west it stood for as well as this place.
She is a lot different than I thought she would be. She was wearing dark clothes and makeup. Her hair was raven black and she had designed glasses on. We have her medical report. She's all going but the sight problem. I hope she has contacts because I don't want her to break her glasses.
"Good morning Miss. Kingsley, I hope you are well and good?"
"I am, thanks."
I smiled, at least she has manners. Unlike some around here I can name, but let's not get into that right now.
"So how is your mother?"
"Good. Pissed, I'm here."
I nodded, we'd have to do something about that mouth of hers. "I understand from your principal you had a run in with Elijah McKenley."
"I did. And he deserved what he got."
"I see."
We're going to have problems with this one, that's for sure. Hope failed to mention she was a little spit fire.
"Why do you think he deserved you beating him up? Miss. Kingsley?"
"He stated it. He started it. Him and his friends. They were always finding a way to take the piss. They had been bullying me even before Alijah began our school, then he joined them. I just lost it that day. I thought we were good. We'd talked about our lives the night before and he knew how I felt about my dead beat dad but he still had to anchor me. I lost it. I know I shouldn't have, but he called me a psycho like my father. I just saw red.
