Getting To Know One Another

Once we had unpacked we headed to the lounge where Jonathan and Kyler prepared stir fry with steamed dumplings, Hong Kong noodles, egg rolls, hot and sour soup, potstickers, cucumber salad, fried rice, vegetable spring rolls, wonton soup, and Asian slaw. I watched amazed at how well they made it all without arguing but laughing and goading each other. Smiling.

"What are you smiling at Carly Bear?"

"Just you both and how well you work with each other in the kitchen."

They both smirked. "It wasn't always this easy. We couldn't tolerate each other being up in eachothers space."

"So what changed?"

They both grinned.

"Cas happened. He said if we didn't learn how to work with each other he'd make us learn the hard way."

"Oh, boy did he make us learn the hard way. My body ached for weeks after."

"So what did he have you doing?" I smiled.

"He made us run out in the rain doing hundreds of press ups, cardio you name it we did it."

"Out in the rain?" I asked, shocked. Cas send nt see the type to be old schooled army.

"Oh he did Carly Bear. It made us and everyone in the platoon realise Cas was no easy sergeant; he was a hard-ass MF. Everyone in our platoon looked up to him including us. We soon got over our disagreement and agreed to give it a try or Cas would have us both doing worse in the rain than he already had."

I smiled and laughed. I never knew Cas had it in him to be like my old headmaster but then he was a sergeant and he had to be a hard ass so everyone took notice of him and disrespect him and his decisions.

"Food's up Carly Bear. Well talk over food about you and what your life was like before you met us and we'll share with you about ours."

I nodded. "You know most of it anyway."

"We'd like to hear the rest."

"Sure."

We all sat on the sofa and two chairs in the lounge. The food was placed on the large coffee table in the centre. This place was truly beautiful and when the place was finished and to its full potential it would be fucking amazing.

"So Carly Bear, tell us about you and where you grew up."

I gulped and swallowed my food before answering. "The home where I live now wasn't my first home, it was my second. I can't remember much about my first home. We had to move out when I was young because of circumstances. Mom never told me what they were. I guess they were to do with the sperm donor."

They nodded interested in what I was telling them. I know they knew about my father cause his Sergeant was Cas's brother and he was a dick as well.

"I've lived there since I was two so I don't really know any other home. Mom had Kaden a year after I was born. We were a close-knit family until my brother got older. We argued a lot but we were always close. Mom and Dad thought it was better to send him to a private school cause they thought we were unruly when together and we were always at each other's throats. They thought it would be better to separate us than be in the same environment. We didn't think so, it was just them overreacting when I turned twelve and Kaden was eleven they sent him to boarding school and I only got to see him in the holidays. Which sucked. We were still close but not as close as we were. We finally became closer and like the brother and sister we were before when he began college. I was happy to finally have him back home and completely in my life if it only lasted a short time."

They nodded. "What about your other brother?"

"Liam?"

They nodded.

"We grew up knowing we both had the same father, but not mother. He was so withdrawn and never talked about our father. He was in an£ out of prison for petty shit from the age of sixteen, when he surprised me at school the day I left it was the first time I had seen him since he was sixteen."

"How did you recognise him?"

"We kept in contact. I have letters and photos he had sent me a recent photo when he told me he was being realised and he wanted to see me. I let him know what date I was signing off for good but I didn't expect him to be there waiting for me. I expected to see him when I returned home cause he wanted to surprise his mom and Caleb but I guess he had other ideas. It was the first time he'd ever opened up about our father, the sperm donor. How badly he treated him and how scared he was that he would do the same to me."

"Well, he won't hurt you while we're around, we promise."

"I just hope they can pin something in him one day and I won't have to worry about him trying to ruin my life."

"Karma is a bitch Carly Bear, it will hit him when he least expects it."

"I hope so."

They cleared their throats. "So, what about Aiden?"

"What about him?"

"It must've been awkward being with someone you were related to." "Not really, no. We grew up together and were not exactly related like Liam and I. Now that would've been weird." I cleared my throat. This is the hardest part of my life. I was with him for so long it felt like a lifetime. "We did everything together mom and Connie thought we both looked cute together we both gagged and laughed it off. I entered high school. And he was in his last year of Primary. That's when the bullying began the head teacher tried to put a stop to it but it never worked. You met one of them Alijah but he didn't come into the boys who were bullying me until I was in year eleven and by then Aiden and I had been together for two years. He was the only guy I ever trusted. He knew everything about me and understood me." I sniffled.

"You can reuse us, Carly Bear."

"I know. Can we please not talk about this anymore?"

"Sure."

They moved from their seats and over to me pulling me into a hug.

I looked at Kyler, his eyes held worry in them.

Fuck we'd messed up.

We hadn't intended to we just wanted to get to know her better we both knew it was risky asking about Aiden we knew it was raw but we never expected it to be this fucking raw.

"It's okay Carly Bear you've got us both and we promise we won't ever hurt you okay."

"Promise."

"Cross our hearts."

She sniffled. "I'm sorry I thought I was over this shit he chose to end things before I finished college not me and he had the nerve to ask for one last night with him so he could fuck me who the fuck does that?"

I looked at Kyler, his eyes were full of rage and I could feel my anger spiral. "You wouldn't do that would you?"

"Never."

She looked up and she looked so lost. "Promise.?"

"Promise."

She looked over at Kyler. "I promise I will never ever never say and do anything like that to you Carly Bear."

She smiles weakly.

"Let's just forget about Aiden okay he's not worth thinking about okay?"

She nods. "Okay."
