Conrad

I guess I deserve that. Which means I think Carly told him the truth about the games and all of us. Fuck we're so screwed. I clicked my jaw into place. Damn, he packs a good punch. I wonder who taught him how to throw a punch like that?

I head into the medical room where campers go for minor injuries and if they are feeling under the weather. I'm furious. Why couldn't Christopher keep his big mouth fucking shut? Ethan and I had put this shit behind us. Why couldn't Damon? If he had, his brother wouldn't have baited Carly's brother and he would be none the wiser. I had to work my ass off to get back here. He has no idea how fuckin hard I had worked to be allowed back here this year.

It wasn't fuckin easy as I was part of those that had kidnapped Carly Evans for Ethan to act out his revenge on her, which he never initially got cause of Alijah and his hatred towards Carly. We thought Ethan was taking things a little too far. Then Alijah came alone, and his revenge was tenfold more than Ethan's. I had never seen a girl so distraught, especially thinking her other half was cheating on her because he'd managed to get these photos of him and another chick to the camp. He must've thought long and hard about his revenge against her, and it wasn't like his mother was the object of his father's affection and had ignored their son and mother's cause of it. Ethan was bitter and angry. He only thought with anger towards Carly's mother, not because she had managed single-handedly to get him thrown to the loins and in our camp cause of his stupidity and bullying. People have to realize there's only so much one person can take before they break up and either retaliate or worse. I have no own kids who end up taking their own lives through the kind of thing that Alijah and his friends had done to Carly.

We were just as bad in the end. It was lucky for us, she hadn't gone down that path of darkness and took her own life cause if she had, things would've been a lot different. I hate to think of the consequences of having found all of us guilty of a camper taking their own life because we had kidnapped them and in a way tortured her.

I regret every single moment of the revenge that was taken against her cause Ethan wanted her to pay for his father abandoning him and his mother. It wasn't her fault that his father fell in love with someone that didn't feel the same way.

I walk through the doors of the medical facility and the nurse smiles and greets me, then tells me where Christopher is. I thanked her and head down the corridor to his room and enter. He's hooked up to machines. Damn Carly's brother really did one on him and I can't really blame him. I strode over to the bed and stood over him. "What the hell were you thinking, Christopher? What happened during the last games has been sorted and forgotten. We had got passed it well apart from Damon. He just couldn't get over the fact we had been found out, and we had to return to base somewhere none of us wanted to go back to cause we preferred it here with normal civilians instead of fighting for a lost cause, but we accepted that we had to, or we would be out on our ear. We failed everyone we were meant to be helping. We deserve what we got, Christopher, and the sooner Damon realizes that the better. I have no idea what you told Kaden, but he knows fuckin everything. It was supposed to be locked away, so as long we live without remembering the shit that our stripes we took away, Carly doesn't deserve to go through the past again. You should've kept your mouth shut."

He blinked rapidly at me.

"I'm sorry Christopher, but I have decided that your injuries are better and they will discharge you. You are no longer welcome at Camp Hollingway, and you have to return home. You're not tarnishing the hard work I put in to be here ever again, and you can tell Damon why I sent you packing. I don't give two fucks you don't deserve your place here letting out the unspoken. Good day." I said, turning and walking away. I'm not having that disrespectful asshole around me one minute longer. I made mistakes last spring. Never again will I make a mistake to get myself back to square fucking one.

I nodded at the nurse as I left. I saw a washed up Caspian. I chuckle. I guess he got what he deserved. None of us knew that he was going to pull that stunt. He must be getting brave in his old age or stupid.

"Karma's a bitch aye Sergeant Hollingway."

He grins. "I guess I deserved it."

"You did more than deserved it. What the hell were you thinking about putting them in a ring on the fuckin lake?"

He grinned. "Thought it would be fun."

"Puking your guts up is fun? You're one weird ass, Sergeant Hollingway."

"I guess not when you put it that way." He pauses and looks at me. "Have you been to visit Christopher?"

"I have. I let him know we don't tolerate campers who goad other campers and tell them things that aren't meant to be spoken about."

"Kaden knows about Carly and the games?"

I nod.

"Fuck."

"I've told Christopher he's no longer welcome at the camp, he's to leave and go home once he's cleared."

He nods. "I never thought we would have to relive that shit again."

"Me neither. Carly doesn't need to be reminded of that dark time. I'm glad she's okay."

"She's strong, that one, believe me."

"I do."

"I have to get these wet clothes off."

I chuckle.

"Kaden is a strong kid. I never even saw it coming."

"I don't think any of us did."

He nods. "Well, enjoy your last night with us."

"I will."

He smiles before we part ways.

I am glad Conrad made the right decision to send Christopher home. I had no idea that he had told Kaden about Carly and what had happened last spring at the games. It's something that we will never forget. It will haunt us for a long time and Carly even longer. We all knew why she chose not to join in the games this spring. That's why she was happy when Kaden said he wanted to take her place and she agreed. None of us realized the shit would hit the fan when we were told not only Conrad was at the other camp, but Damon's younger brother would be attending the camp. We didn't think he would have an ulterior motive for joining the camp, but we were wrong. He came to taunt Carly and, as she chose not to be in the games and Kaden was, he latched onto him, taunting him and once, he started his revenge, and then it came to the point he let the cat out the bag.

No, I can understand why he knocked ten colours of shit out of Christopher. I noticed he was still taunting him in the ring. I couldn't interview him because it was a no holds bar match, but Kaden surprised me when he kicked the living shit out of Christopher. Then, to top it all off, he slung me over his shoulders like I weighed nothing. Maybe it was adrenaline, or he was training in some kind of martial arts. I deserved it whatever the reason and I knew he wasn't finished, karma was just beginning.

I headed to my hut and stripped down and headed into the bathroom to shower. Once I was showered and had fresh clothes, I headed to the cafeteria. I will check on Christopher later. Everyone looked around at me snuggling and whispering so fuckin childish.

I grabbed a tray and put the plate filled with meat and veg on it, then grabbed a coffee and headed to the table where Carly, Jonathan, Kyler and Kaden were sitting. "Well, well, well if it isn't the drowned sergeant."

"How does it feel to get your ass thrown in the lake, Sarge?"

I rolled my eyes. Then I looked at Kaden. "You want Karma?"

He looked at me and smirked.

"Tomorrow on the training grounds, me and you, you can do whatever take your anger out on me however you feel necessary then call it quits agree?"

"Agreed."

Everyone let out a relieved breath.

"Sit down Sarge, you're making the place look a mess."

"If it's okay with Kaden?"

Then they all looked at Kaden and he nodded. I smile, place my tray down on the table and sit down to eat.
