Carly

I woke groggily, my head felt like a bass drum and my mouth was like sandpaper. My eyes were like pins and burned. What the hell happened last night, and where the hell am I? My answer came shortly after when someone mumbled. "She's awake?"

"Where am I?" I croaked.

"In our dorm Carly. Damn you had us all worried, here."

I looked up at a very fuzzy Star. She smiled, helped me sit up and placed the glass of water in my hand. Well, at least, I think it was water. "Drink this, then we'll talk."

Whose we. As in me and her, or whoever is in this room?

I slowly lifted it to my mouth and drank the murky substance. Yep, it was water. I drank it all, my sight becoming less blurry with every moment until I could see three people in the room, one I know, one I recognize, one I'm not sure about, but she looks like Star so I think I may be right in thinking she's her sister.

"Hey Carly. I'm Jasmine Stars' sister, but you can call me Jazz. I would've introduced myself last night, but you were preoccupied with Drake.

I nodded. "It's nice to meet you."

She smiled widely.

"We're Drake? I don't remember much of last night."

Her smile fell. What had I said wrong?

"Do you remember what happened last night?"

"Not really, it's a little hazy."

"What do you remember?"

"Arriving at the party with Star. Drake introduced me to his friends. Able was there."

Jazz looked at him, he smiled and nodded to agree with my statement, then she looked back at me with concern etching on her face. "Do you remember anything after arriving?"

"A little. Star and I went to the bar and grabbed drinks. We stayed there for a while, we had a few drinks and I needed the bathroom, so I told Star to wait for me at the bar."

They both nodded.

"What happened after that?"

"The cue was really long, so I had to wait to use it. Then, when I came out, Drake was waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs. He asked me for a dance. I refused and told him I had to get back to Star. He continued asking me, saying it would only be one dance, so I gave in and danced with him."

"Do you know what happened after that?"

I tried to think about what happened afterward and couldn't. I shook my head. "Not really, it all got a little blurry after that."

I heard them all sigh. She took my hands in hers. "I'm so sorry Carly, but your drink was laced."

"No, that's not even possible. We would've known no one would give us drinks apart from the guy serving at the bar."

She stared at me, looking at me with a "Really, are you that naive? You trust a frat boy to give you drinks?"

"But.. why?"

"So Drake could get in your pants and show the whole uni you're easy."

"He wouldn't." I argued, though I didn't even know if it truly was the truth.

"I'm sorry Carly, I know these guys, they've been doing it for years. You aren't the first, but you would've been the last until the new frat king takes over. I never thought it would happen to me until it did. The guy thought I was an easy target being new, and he thought I would crumble, but he was wrong, so wrong. I have a mean left hook."

"And a knee." Star laughed.

She smiled. "You need him in the nuts?"

Her smile grew wider. "After, I punched his face and broke his nose. He never saw it coming. He called me a crazy bitch. I told him he was crazy forever thinking I would let him get away with it."

I smiled. I wished I was like her.

"I knew the moment I saw you with Drake you wouldn't survive their wrath."

"So you put a stop to it?"

"We didn't have to."

"Then who did?"

"I did."

I looked behind her and at Abel, surprised. "Why?"

"Cause you didn't deserve it."

"No one does, so why me?"

"I had enough of being in their shadows letting them get away with breaking a poor girl into tears and leaving because she can no longer take the humiliation. I know none of you are different, but there's something about you Carly. I didn't want them to take that away from you to serve their egos. They've hurt too many girls during the student welcome party. This was the last straw."

"What will they do to you? Aren't you all supposed to have each other's backs?"

He shrugs. "To be honest, Carly, I don't belong there. I never have. I'm the odd ball. No one understands me."

I smile. I know how he feels, though people have tried to understand me, they never really have. "Thanks."

"The pleasure is all mine, Carly."

"I think we're going to be good friends."

"No great friends." He said, pulling me into a hug.

I looked over at Star and Jazz. They smirked, winking. I don't know what they were thinking, but I wasn't interested in being anything more than friends. My life was complicated enough. I didn't need a boy in it to make it more complicated.

He moved away and smiled. "I think we need to chill for today's lesson starts Monday."

I nodded.

"What shall we do?"

"Bing Netflix and get pizza."

"Now that's a plan."

So that's what we did. Star and Jazz left us to get pizza for us "to get better acquainted". As she so politely put it. We did talk a lot about what we were both studying. He would be off to some film company once he had finished his degree. And I told him I was here to learn more about counseling as it was so ing I was looking to do when I left here. I had already got a position ready when I did. I had been offered training on the job, but I had refused because I wanted to go to college and uni to get the full experience. He smiled and told me that he was glad I had chosen the latter. His eyes sparkled in mine and I swear for one split second I thought he was going to kiss me when the door swung open with greetings from both Star and Jazz. He moved away quickly, sitting where he was before they left. The door slammed behind her. And they strolled over to us, placed the pizzas on the bed and opened them. We all dug in chatting. We all lay back on both beds though it was a tight squeeze. We managed to fit in both beds and watch some kind of horror movie on the TV.
