Carly
I had left camp on Friday night and went home. Luckily for me, Kaden had gone back to the private school and he'd had a very long talking to by our parents.
Dad had pulled up outside the camp at six-thirty and was accompanied by Bulldog Jr, Kyelr and Casapian. They all shook my dad's hand and told him how well I was settling in and how proud they were of me. I rolled my eyes discreetly so none of them saw. They all hugged me goodbye reminding me I would see them in a week's time to start my journey into becoming a camp counsellor.
I slid into the car and put my seatbelt on and waved goodbye to them.
"They are a little old for you aren't they?"
"Dad, they're my foremost nothing more nothing less. They're all good guys and I've learnt a lot from them."
"I hope that's all you've learnt from them young lady."
I rolled my eyes. "Yea dad." I can't tell him buldog Jr, Kyler and I smuggled up several nights together and fell to sleep together. He would think something shady was going on. Either that or they were trying to get inside me.
Yeah right that's never going to happen he knows I'm with Aiden and I'm not going to cheat on him just cause we haven't seen each other for two months. We kept in contact a few nights a week when all had settled down at the camp and everyone was in their own beds. There were countless times both Tyler and Bulldog Jr and comforted me after Aiden and I had spoken because of how much I missed him.
Kaden had even spoken to him when he was here, at least he knew I had someone else to take care of me instead of two muscular nineteen-year-olds.
Once we got home I thought they would reprimand me for allowing Karen to stay like he had for running off to find me. But, I on the other hand only got the if looks could kill looks and don't ever pull a stunt like that again.
Yeah, whatever. I went into my room and slammed the door to let them know how pissed off I was. Aiden had already told Kaden it was a dumb move on his part and he'd get an ear full for it but he shrugged like he didn't give a damn and said, "Bring it on."
Aiden shook his head at how reckless my brother can be sometimes. A knock to my bedroom door brought me out of my thoughts. "Knock knock."
Aiden said, peering his head around the door smiling. "Is it safe to come in?"
"Yeah come in and make yourself at home."
He closed the door still smiling and leaped on the bead givvign me a bear hug. "I missed you Carls."
I wrapped my arms around him and snuggled into him. "I missed you too." and it was the truth he was the only person I missed whilst I was there he was my home. He kissed my forehead and pulled away. "So your mom said you were in a foul mood and I would be lucky if I didn't get something thrown at me."
I chuckled. "I would never throw anything at you Aiden. Not intentionally anyway." I looked at him and he smiled, brushing his hand through my hair. "She pissed me off by blaming me for what Kaden did. She thought I was irresponsible for allowing him to manipulate the sergeant into letting him stay."
"It was a little irrational..."
"Whatever you're going to say, don't."
"Look Carls. You're both as stubborn as one another you would've done the same if you were told you couldn't see him. You and Kaden are close and no one understands why you are as close as you are. I'm not even as close to my brother as you are."
"Yet you live with yours and are allowed to see him whenever you want. I can't, it's holidays or nothing."
"I know Carls. But my brother has made some really dumb decisions in his life now he's paying for those dumb decisions. I wish I was close to him as you are with Kaden."
"I know."
"Are you still going to the hearing?"
"Yeah I'm testifying."
"Are you sure that's what you want?"
"I am. He's my brother Aiden. Yes he does make dumb decisions but he was trying to save me from making one."
"I understand and I'll be with you every step of the way."
"Thanks."
He smiles and leans forward. "That's what the best boyfriend in the world does for his girl."
"Oh shut up," I say, play-slapping his arm and laughing.
He laughs and smiles
I love you, Carls. I'll always be here for you." he leans forward pressing his lips on mine kissing me passionately.
Monday came around too fast and now I'm entering college with no clue where I'm going or who my tutor is and who will be in my class. I head to the desk and ask them where to find the room for my course. She explains how to find my class and I thank her heifer heading down the maze of corridors to find my class. I entered and there were only a few students so far. Most of them come closer to the time of the lesson when everyone is in, the tutor introduces themselves and we begin.
I've never felt so exhausted as I do now. My head is about to burst. I turn the corner and bump into a wall. "Sorry, I'm looking for the cafeteria."
"No, it's my fault I.." I look up and my words get stuck in my throat.
"Carly?"
"Charlie?"
He smiles. "Well I didn't think I would see you again, let alone here."
"That makes two of us."
"So what are you heading?"
"Same place as you."
He grins. "Shall we get lost together?"
"Erm.. Sure."
He smiles. and we bump into each other.
"I believe it's the way."
"Sure Carls, I'll follow your lead as you gather, I'm shit at directions."
"Yeah sorta."
We walked to the cafeteria.
So what course are you taking?"
"Counselling, you?"
He smiles. "I always knew you would be a good listener, you're good at helping people, well kids like me." he smiled then coughed. "I'm doing IT. I'm hoping to go into the electronics side of communication eventually."
I smiled as we got our food and drink. We both sat down. He looked at me as we ate. "So, have you heard anything from Ethan?"
I swallowed, shaking my head. "Not since he came to our school with his dad and done a speech on what the army had to offer."
"He's doing good, well so his father says he's working hard at becoming a sergeant again. Ethan and the platoon are away at the moment, that's probably why you haven't heard from him."
More than likely.
"I'm sorry Carly."
"What for?"
"Everything, my dumb self and my cousin, his friends and that kid that they took under their wing."
"There's no need all is forgotten and that was Elijah he was at my school and the reason I was at the camp to begin with. We sorted our differences out and he's joined the army to become a better version of himself."
"Good. Glad to hear it." He looked at me. "Can we start over Carls and be friends?"
"Yeah sure as long as you promise not to pull any shit like that again."
"I promise."
"Cool friends."
"Friends." He said, leaning over and giving a side hug before sitting back down and we finished our lunch.
After lunch we headed outside for some fresh air before we said goodbye and a promise to meet up for lunch tomorrow. With that agreed we parted company and went to our classes. This sure has been a strange day all around.
