I rush as quickly as I can to catch up with Carly, but she's nowhere to be seen, damn she's quick. I hope and pray to God she hasn't told anyone about our encounter because it will be the end of my career. I've had so many warnings about my attitude toward other officers and sometimes women. They've let it slide over the years. Somehow, I did. I have to find her and stop her from telling anyone what has happened out there. I just lost control and it won't happen again. I hope she believes me, so we can work together and train together. There's something about her that has my blood pumping in all the wrong places. I've never been so turned on by a girl as young as her and her sarcasticness and her abruptness at taking no shit. I don't usually go for women who have her type of personality, but damn, I do enjoy our banter. No other woman has come at me like that and given me what for.

I headed over to her cabin where I'm sure she'll be after our encounter. I sure hope those dickwods aren't there, they're always by her side. "Sergeant Snider."

Fuck. I know that husky voice anywhere. I looked up and low and behold my Sergeant Major. "Sergeant Major Lockwood, " I said, saluting him.

"Sergeant Snider," he says, returning a salute.

"I hoped to catch you before you did your morning activities with the kids here."

"Sure." I gulp I know what this is about. I'm too fucking late and the only way I can get out of it is lie myself out of it.

"We are going to go to one of the spare rooms so we can talk in private."

"Yes, Sergeant Major, sir."

He nods and we walk. Also, how are you finding it here, Sergeant Snider? I know this isn't exactly what you had in mind, but we all have to make sacrifices."

"Yes we do. I think I'm getting on rather well here, Sergeant Major."

"Elaborate on you think you're getting on well here, Sergeant Snider. Are you getting on well with the children, the staff and the college intern?"

I gulped. "Yes, Sergeant Major, to all of the above. It may have taken a little time for them to get used to me here after having Sergeant Hollingway for such a long time, but I think I blend in quite well."

He nods as we enter the cafeteria and head to the back of the building where the offices are situated. We head down the corridor and step into the last one and he closes the door behind us. "Please take a seat."

I nodded and sat down. He sits opposite. "How is your relationship with Carly Evans? The college student here."

"Good. We got off to a rocky start and made some mistakes, but we rectified them and we were all good. We train together in the morning. She's quite an exceptional young woman."

He nodded. "It has come to my attention that your time shared with Miss Evans has changed substantially."

"I wouldn't say so."

"She's filed a complaint of sexual assault against you, Sergeant Snider. "She what?"

"Filed a sexual assault against you, Sergeant Snider. And after what I've seen in your past with others around you, I'm not shocked, just very disappointed in you."

"I would never do that to her, she's just a kid. Sergeant Major. Yes, a pretty one, but I would never sexually assault or harass her. She's sixteen. I would never make sexual advances towards her. We've just been training together. Maybe she took my banter towards her the wrong way, but I would never ever do that, I swear. She's lying"

"What I've seen of Miss Evans is she's not lying, Sergeant Snider."

"People can put all kinds of bullshit on when they want someone gone, you know that as much as anyone else."
