Bulldog Jr
I slowly come around having no clue where I am or how I even got here. All I know is that something heavy is lying on the sheets cocooned around me.
I splutter a cough. "Water." damn my mouth is like sandpaper and my tongue is like the Sahara desert.
Whoever has me trapped under the sheets moves making me able to move my limbs under the covers, thank fuck. "Shit, shit hang on." I know that feminine voice anywhere, the voice of an angel, my Carly Bear. One day she will be mine once all her demons are gone. I will confess my feelings about her, that's if Kyler doesn't get there first.
She slowly moves my head and the pillows I feel another set of hands grab my arm with hers. It could only mean it's not just her in here Kyler is too. They both help me up into a sitting position.
Carly then passes me a glass of water. "Here you go, Jonathan."
I smile brightly at her and try to take the glass from her but my hands begin to shake which means one thing my nerves are shattered. She doesn't huff and puff, just drops a straw in the glass. "Here this should make things a little easier for you." she smiles.
I lean forward, my mouth going around the straw. Sucking the water up through it until I can take no more and move away. Carly removes the glass of water still smiling like the damn angel she is. She places it beside the bed.
"You all gave us a heart attack out there bro what the hell happened?"
I look at Kyler not knowing how to answer. The truth is I don't know. "I'm not sure," I say honestly.
"It's okay Jonathan, the doctors will find out what's wrong with you."
Well there's the answer to my next question to where the hell I was. "I'm in the camp hospice?"
"You are." Carly sighs loudly. "Everyone was so damn scared Jonathan I've never seen you like that before. I wish I had asked what was wrong when you started pushing everyone away."
"I wasn't, was I?"
Both Carly and Kyler nodded. Shit. I didn't think anyone had even noticed. I thought that they were all too busy doing their own thing and work. I guess I was wrong and I hadn't hid it as well as I thought. I guess I was in for a bollocking from Cas too.
"I didn't mean to. I wasn't sure what was going on."
"Neither did I until today. Until Cas honked that damn horn and you dropped like a sack of shit then I knew damn Cas and his traditions."
"Don't go blaming him, Ky it's not his fault. He has a lot of work to do with this place; he can't make sure everyone is in tip top condition."
"Well he should've then maybe you wouldn't be here now!"
"Let it go Ky I'm sure he's already beating himself up about it."
"Good."
"Ky." Carly snapped irritably. "Calm down Jonathan doesn't need this shit right now I'm sure as I beating himself up enough about this so let it drop"
"Fine." he huffed.
A knock alerted us all. We all turned toward the door and looked at the doctor. "May I?"
"You're the Doc, doc."
She chuckles and steps into the room, "I hope I'm not intruding. I was surprised that you were awake."
"Well, I am. What's the verdict doc?"
"You're one lucky man Lieutenant Stanford. It was lucky that Miss Evans was there to cushion your fall or there would've been dire consequences. I'm sure that you're aware of what they are?"
