Carly

With the help of Kyler and Bulldog Jr, we walked across the campsite as the three musketeers. I know it's no time for jokes, but a few of the kids thought it was funny to call it us one day, as we all walked together they had never seen us apart, so they thought it was funny to call it us. Hence, forward the name stuck.

We entered the building where I worked. My face was tearstained, splodgy and I looked like I had two black eyes from crying through my puffy eyes. I still can't believe he would do that to me. I never expected it of him. He seemed to be too much in control to up his own ass with his merit badges to prove he was a good soldier, a loyal soldier.

My mentor took one look at me and she knew. "Oh, Carly dear, what happened?"

I burst into tears.

She wrapped her arms around me. "Come into the office and tell me what happened to get you so upset."

I just nodded.

"Sargent Stanford and Hayes can stay out here."

"I'd like them with me, they already know."

She nodded. "As you wish."

We all entered the room and she took her arms from around me, asking us all to take a seat. She made me a hot cocoa and placed it down.

She took her seat from across all of us. "Well, I don't very often get this many people in my office at once unless it's important or something is truly wrong. I think in this case it's the latter," she said, studying me and my posture, something she was teaching me what to do. It was the first telltale of lying, and different types of feelings such as sadness, defensiveness and heartache.

I gulped and Kyler and Jonathan squeezed my hands to reassure me that everything would be okay.

"It's okay to be scared, Carly, we're all scared at one time or another in our lives."

"I know it's just hard to talk to someone about it for a second time. It was hard enough the first time."

"I understand Carly, take your time and when you're ready tell me why you're crying. I've never seen you cry or so shaken since you began here a year ago. I know you had a run-in with Sergeant Hollingway."

"Not like that."

"So this has to do with Sergeant Snider?"

I nodded.

"I knew that man was in trouble with a capital T. I've heard so many stories about him. He's not a nice man, Carly. It's best if you try and stay clear of him."

"I tried them. He made up a dumb challenge. He didn't like it because I bet his ass."

She chuckled. "I get he didn't," she mumbled.

"So he challenged me again. This time we drew, but he still decided I needed to join him and train with him."

"So that's why you've been spending every morning with him?"

I nod.

"So was it going well, the training?"

"Apart from getting up at the crackass of dawn, yes."

"Good." She looked at me, Kyler and Jonathan's hands still on mine squeezing them. "So tell me what happened today that was any different from any other day."

I looked at Kyler and Jonathan and they nodded.

I went straight into explaining it was like a normal day at the beginning, then it all changed when we were sparring and he had me locked to his body when he began doing inappropriate things. She nodded and listened but never judged. When I finished telling her what had gone on, she passed me the tissues and I thanked her. "This is a dilemma, Carly. I'm going to ask you a personal question so darn take it wrong in any way, because the Sergeant Major will ask you the same."
