"Maybe we should discuss it." I tilted my head just slightly, confused about what he meant by that.
I told him it's not something to discuss with Frostee because we broke up, but he wants to discuss it with me. We aren't together. He made that blindingly clear when he rejected my kiss. Which actually still hurts.
"No. It's not something we need to discuss." I tell him, then walk off to Trix and Roxy.
Once Trix was plastered and I had a stumbling Roxy, I helped them to my car. Trix almost fell off my arm, tripping, but before she face-planted, Rock caught her, holding her up.
"Hey, it's Rock." Trix slurred, looking up at him.
Rock and I locked eyes for a moment until I continued to my car. I opened the door, helped Roxy in, and Rock did the same with Bellatrix. Once I shut the door, I turned towards him.
"Thanks." I mumbled.
"No problem." He said nonchalantly, walking away.
"Wait." I caught the sleeve of his leather jacket. I removed my hand quickly when he looked back. "It's not something we need to discuss because...we aren't dating like I was with Frostee." I told him, trying to maintain eye contact, but it was more difficult than usual.
"Why does that matter, Scarlett?" He asked, turning to face me.
"Because...it's a heavy topic. It's a serious matter that I feel only needs to be talked about with someone you are serious about." I explained.
Rock steps into my personal space and cups my face gently, his hand big against my face.
"I am serious about you, princess." He rubs his thumb against my cheek, the corner of his lips tilting up just in the slightest. My mouth goes dry, but I stay completely still against his touch. His hand is pulled away slowly until his touch is gone, and then he leaves my presence. Taking my breath with him.

Monday morning, I was the one making coffee. My mom said she forgot to set her alarm and overslept. Once I started sipping my coffee, she came down the stairs, still pulling her blazer on.
"Thank you." She said, out of breath as she poured her coffee into a to-go cup.
"No problem." I muffled a laugh, finishing my coffee as she frantically started packing her purse.
"Scarlett, I have a yellow folder on my desk. Will you go get it for me?" It was phrased as a question even though the answer will be yes anyway.
I run down the hall to her office and see the yellow folder next to her computer. As I quickly snatched it, I bumped the mouse, waking up the computer screen. Instinctively, I looked up and noticed new email notifications, but one stood out.
Nicoloas Rivera
Subject: Thank you
The curious pull to open it almost took over until my mother yelled at me.
"Did you find it!?"
"Yeah, coming!" I lingered on the message for a moment longer, then raced down the hall and into the kitchen, handing it to her.
"Thank you." She said her keys already in hand. "Okay, I got to go. Goodbye, honey." She said and left through the garage door.
