I couldn't see out any windows, but as everyone's lips became loose I knew it must be late.
"What exactly kind of associate did you get to bow? What does that even mean?" I asked anyone who'd answer. José sat in a longue chair while Rock and I lounged on the couch. Julian and Flay sat on a different sofa across from us. I leaned my back against Rock's arm and shoulder however he annoyingly didn't put his arm around my shoulders. However I'm also not a fan of PDA even if it's only in front of a few...close...people?
"Is that what he said?" José lips curved up into a smile and smoke slowly fell out of his mouth. He took the cigarette out of his mouth holding it between his fingers before Vivi took it and smoked a little puff. She waved a hand in front of her face to disperse the smoke before giving it back to Jefe.
"Well what he said exactly was 'Hm...making an associate bow'." I repeated exactly his words in a deep manly voice. Everyone laughed and Rock elbowed me in the side.
"Why'd you use that voice?" I turned back at him as he smiled with a frown. I giggled mockingly then leaned back into him. Once the laughter died down Jefe leaned forward.
"He's the kind of person who can get us out of trouble if law enforcement picks up on our business or a Velvet gets caught in some way." I squinted my eyes wondering who could have that kind of authority that could make crimes dissipate into nothingness.
"Is he a chief of police?" I questioned. "The mayor?"
"That's enough of the guessing game for tonight Buzz." Rock sat up and when he stood he held his hand out for me. I took it and he yanked me up his hand slipping down to wrap around my waist holding me close against his side. My heart skipped a beat and I swallowed. "Night guys." Everyone mumbled goodbyes.
"Goodnight guys. Bye Vivi."
"Buenas noches mijo, Escarletta."
Once we were alone in the hallway Rock dropped his hand from my waist although I wished he hadn't even more, why did he...?
"It's pretty late you wanna just crash here. There are several empty bedrooms." Rock suggested and I studied him.
"My mom is probably wondering where I am." I said slowly. "Actually how are you able to be a Velvet without your parents finding out?" Rock rubbed his thumb across his bottom lip and I looked away at his seductive habit. Does he not know how sexually suggestive it looks?
"I guess they don't notice. Or care enough to say anything." Rock moved his eyes to mine after he looked at the ground while explaining. "Seems like your mom cares." Rock phrased it like a question. I glanced away again thinking about my mother. She does seem to care. Since moving here we got...closer. Something I lost when my dad died.
"Yeah she does." I blinked up at him his eyes softened.
"I should take you home then." He took a step towards me his voice lower.
"You should." I said my volume turning down. I couldn't look away from his hazel eyes and the smell of his natural scent mixed with the distant smell of tobacco and leather. His hand reached up and his finger tips tingled down my jawline until he tilted my chin up further with a sharp jerk.
"Or I could pull you inside one of these rooms and do every indecent thought I've had about you since we've met." My breath hitched in my throat and my lips parted only slightly.
"You could." I managed to get out.
"Which is it then Scarlett. What I should do," his thumb pressed onto my bottom lip sending a burning sensation through my body, "or what I could do." I couldn't answer that time my breath became irregular and butterflies erupted in my stomach. "Okay then princess." Rock picked me up with one arm holding me bridal style, his other arm rested at his side and I instinctively put my hand around his neck to hold on. He gazed down the hall with a serious expression until he felt my dazed eyes on him he only glanced my way.
We entered a room at the end of a hall. It was too dark for me to see any important points. I was took focused on the man in front of me to care. He walked deeper into the room and laid me down on a bed. He stared down into my eyes until his arm slipped from me like a warm blanket being taken from a shivering body. He towered over me on the edge of the bed and I could feel my cheeks burn with the amount of dominant energy radiating off of him. I was just thankful that it was dark enough he couldn't see my red cheeks. He leaned down his hand resting above me on the creaking headboard. I scooted back against it and his other hand went over my body pushing a hand print into the mattress.
"Your eyes glow in the darkness." Rock whispered his voice deep and gravelly.
"Yours glimmer." I referred to the golden specks in his green brown eyes. I pressed my lips together lightly. There was a long silence where we just stared studying each other like it was the last look we had.
"I'm going to find something for you to wear." Rock rose and walked to the other side of the room my eyes started to adjust to the dim light and I watched him rummage through a dresser drawer. I let out a quiet exhale and repositioned my body. "Do you want to shower Buzz?" He asked his back still to me.
"Sure." I answered. I had no reason not to.
"Here you go." He came back handing me a big T-shirt and some biker shorts. I examined the clothes confused with the selection.
"The T-shirt was mine. The shorts I think are Vivi's" I nodded the shorts that he handed to me made more sense.
"Shower is through there." He pointed to a door behind him opposite wall of the bed.
"Thanks." I stood.
"Enjoy my princess." He gave me a sly look and I rolled my eyes at his teasing.
