... after 3 years ...
"Good morning, mam. Someone is here claiming to be your friend," my Canadian secretary spoke up as I went out of the elevator. Anyways, I am on the 17th floor of this building, the peak floor meant for the one and only VIP in this area.
"And who is that person, Alexa?" I asked in response.
"She didn't introduce herself, mam."
"She didn't?" kusa kong naibaba ang isang kamay kung saan nakasabit ang pastel pink kong handbag. I am wearing a simple outfit for today. White long sleeves with a ribbon in the middle right below the neck, a pastel pink trouser and three inches white heels. Of course, hindi mawawala ang favourite color ko.
"Yes, mam," sagot niya.
"And why would you let someone in, in the building without my permission considering that someone didn't even introduce whoever he is," pinagtaasan ko ito ng kilay.
"I'm very sorry, mam, but she was insisting and I was about to call the guards to get her out of the office but you arrived here first," nakayuko pa rin siya. Kaya pala, kaya pala paglabas ko ng elevator ay bigla siyang natigilan na parang sasakay sa elevator.
"She? And where is that person?" saglit akong sumilip sa likuran niya para tanawin ang pintuan ng office.
"Inside your office, mam."
"Inside?!" hindi makapaniwalang tanong ko at tumaas na ang boses, "Paano kung magnanakaw 'yon?" I even added, despite knowing the fact na hindi siya nakaka-intindi ng Tagalog. She is a Canadian as I said.
"I-I'm very sorry, mam," until now, nakayuko pa rin siya.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath bago siya tinignan, "Fine. I'll call you in my office when I need something or if ever I need help," kalmado kong saad.
"Yes, mam. My apologies."
I passed through her at tumabi naman ito agad. There are times na napapagalitan ko siya pero agad din naman akong kumakalma, I know the feeling of being a secretary kasi. Ngayon ko lang naiintindihan na normal lang talagang uminit ang ulo ng mga boss.
Binuksan ko ang pintuan ng office at agad itong isinara. The room is not that big since I don't like it spacious, ako lang naman palagi ang mag-isa so why bother?
