It was hard to believe that all of that had happened before Wednesday, but it was what it was. The rest on the week was much calmer other than the longing glances that only proved to irritate me from Sabo and the odd way Thatch would act around me. I shook it off and looked at the group chat I had with the girls that had put up with my flaky self this whole semester.

I giggled as I threw on some jeans and an (f/c) sweater before slipping my wallet and my phone into my pockets. I slipped downstairs still marveling at my new, and slightly uncomfortable, home. The house was stunning. It was almost as if I walked into one of those after shots on HGTV or something. Tall ceilings, beige walls with tasteful art, hardwood floors, and an open floorplan with a huge kitchen at the center. Tasteful, homey, but distant.
The detachment wasn't what made me uncomfortable, though.
I looked over to the kitchen to see Thatch cleaning the dishes. He seemed normal again, but I could tell something was off in his mind. He had some odd need to be with me all of the time now but he never went against my word or what I decided to do as long as he could go or knew about it. It was unnerving to have a grown man over twice your age under your thumb.
"Hey, Thatch," I hummed as I walked towards the door to put on a pair of boots I had grabbed from my old house before the movers were set to bring the rest and place Benn's things in a storage unit over the break. "The girls invited me to coffee so I'm heading out."
"Do you want me to drive you?" he asked hurriedly as he walked up to the door.
I glanced at him, noting the soft look in his eyes as he passed me my new trench coat from the Vinsmoke boys. "It's okay, we agreed to not brandish that I'm living here for both of our own reasons, remember? I'll be fine walking." He huffed, upset. "I'll go with you to the store tomorrow if that makes you feel better?" I offered, trying to placate him so I could get on my way.
"Sounds like a plan then, darlin'," he muttered with a smile as he fixed my hair slightly. "Do you have my card? For the coffee?"
I shook my head. "I have a bit of cash left, it's fine."
He shook his head and reached into his jacket that was hanging on a decorative hook by the door. "It'll be on me today, I told you I wanted to take care of you," he hummed as he passed me a metal bank card. "The pin is 1604. At least let me do this since I can't drive you."
I sighed and relented, "Alright, fine. Thank you." I looked up at him again and noticed the soft look was only deepened as I tucked the card into my wallet. "I'll see you later," I hummed as I turned and left the warm house.

There were flurries of snow dancing around but none of it stuck to the ground, melting as soon as they would hit the pavement. I followed the little path maps had set me on and texted the group chat that it said I was roughly 10 minutes away. I slowly got closer to the little shop that they were talking about and it was definitely pink. I hummed as I finally entered the shop and felt the warm air.
"Oh my lord, (Y/n). Why in the hell are you covered in snow!" Koala exclaimed from the booth that the four were already occupying. She stood and rushed over and immediately started brushing off the already melting flurries.
