101 || normality

Sixth year was proving to be tough.

Lucas was still in the hospital wing to be cautious; Madam Pomfrey was checking him over to ensure he was one hundred percent okay and ready to get back to school. While everyone else was swamped with schoolwork, it was constant homework, and the lessons were so much harder than O.W.L lessons.

"I want to die again." Adelaide groaned in the common room.

Astoria sent her a glare, "Too soon."

"Sorry," She muttered, "I want to fall off my broom and spent a week with Pomfrey. Better?"

"Meh."

The door swung open, and Lucas and Blaise walked in, "Guess who is cleared for fun school!"

"I'd go back to the Death Eaters, Luc. This is torture." Adelaide said, "I know Tori, too soon. Sorry."

Lucas shrugged it off, "I'll take schoolwork over Pomfrey's potions. One tasted like dog shit."

Blaise grimaced, "How do you know what that tastes like?" Lucas sent a sly stare.

"How do your N.E.W.Ts work then?" Astoria asked, "You didn't sit your O.W.Ls."

"I got predicted grades based on the exams we did previously," Lucas said, "I'm taking Charms, Herbology, Defence Against the Dark Arts and Divination. Snape failed me, I got a P."

"Yeah, Snape sucks." Blaise nodded, "Breakfast anyone?"

As usual, breakfast was tense. Hostile stares were sent to the Slytherin table as people read through the Daily Prophet, treating them all like criminals. Adelaide was just glad she was only criminally associated to Slytherin and not her father now.

"Where's Alex?" Astoria asked twenty minutes after they sat.

The group all looked around as if she were to walk in any moment, "I don't know. She wasn't there when I woke up and I woke up early today."

"She's probably gone for a walk," Blaise said, "It's hard when your parent escapes from Azkaban."

Adelaide scoffed, "Tell me about it."

"Her mum also murdered Theo and you."

"Okay, its bad."

Alex didn't appear the entire day, and it was an understatement to say they were worried.

"Maybe she fell into a broom cupboard and got stuck." Astoria suggested.

"No way, she's too smart for that," Lucas said, "I think she's shagging someone."

They all stared at him, "Lucas, shut up."

"Damn, tell me how you really feel."

Adelaide said nothing but stood up, "We have Quidditch practice. Hopefully the Gryffindor trials are over, can't stand them."

The two made their way to the pitch, and unfortunately collided with the new Gryffindor team, which looked weaker compared to their old one.

"Ready to lose?" Blaise shouted, "I have to say, I'm looking forward to lifting that cup. Adelaide?"

"Oh, I can see it," Adelaide smiled, "The crowds cheering, us getting black out drunk later. I asked Trelawney, she said it was going to happen."

Harry shook his head, "Trelawney? You know she's a fake. Just like your dreams."

Bletchley came up to them, "Did we run into the little kitties? We're going to crush you."

Ginny stepped forward, "Let's just go. We don't need to waste our breath on the losing house."

The team of seven gathered on the pitch, brooms in hand, "We're going to start with laps. Endurance is important, games can go on for a while if the Seekers can't get the snitch. So, five laps and then we'll reconvene. But also, Lance, catch the Snitch quickly please."

The five laps ended, and everyone appeared red faced and breathing heavily, "Great. Bletchley, get in goal. Zabini and Wright, you're going to do some shooting practice. Thomas and Howard, I want you guys to grab a bludger and you're going to practice your aim with the other goals. And Lance, you're going to practice speed and reaction time with me. Once we're done, we'll play a mini game. Okay?"

The team was good, they had to be to win this year, they listened to everything Adelaide said, pushed themselves to the best of their abilities and didn't seem to be cheating scum. It seemed like Slytherin was about to have their first female captain Quidditch winner. A historic moment. Ridding the books of the white boys who paid their way in and brutally won their matches. This was Quidditch going right. And, if Regulus stuck to his word and pulled a few contacts, there would be scouts for female teams across England coming to watch, and Adelaide needed that.

"Great work today, now go shower that sweat off you, you smell like a bunch of pigs," Adelaide said and put her broom in the cupboard, "I can feel you lurking." She turned around to see the blonde boy, "You aren't getting your position back. It's been taken."

"I don't want it back," Draco said, leaning against the wall, "I just wanted to sense some normality."

"Yeah? These past months have been mental for everyone, Ferret Boy," Adelaide said, tapping his shoulder, "You'll get through it, just shut that gobby mouth of yours and don't start any problems."

Draco gave a smile, "That's normality. I missed it."

"Oh, you want insults more often, mate, I have a whole load in my head," she joked, "Want to take a walk? Although, pre-warning, we won't get back until next month at the earliest."

"Shut up, twat."

"You wound me with your words, Malfoy."
