Knuckles wished he had a simple life. Nothing too complicated, that obviously proved to not be the case. Eggman, Rouge and others all wanted his emerald. All he was supposed to do was guard it but sometimes that seemed more trouble than it was worth. Honestly he wanted to leave sometimes, see what the world did without him constantly guarding the emerald. Leaving it alone for a while.
Today seemed like every other day. In the way that Knuckles was waiting for something to happen. Today that something was shadow buy for an unexpected reason. Knuckles saw the hedgehog at first, didn't know what he was up too until he got closer. He was holding nothing. Only himself. This weirded Knuckles out usually Shadow would be carrying something. So this was out of place did he need something?
"Shadow?" Knuckles asks as Shadow gets close enough to hear him clearly
"Hello." Shadow plainly says then sits down at the Master Emerald.
"...Can I help you with something?"
"Yes."
"...and that would be?"
"Sorry. Recently I've been feeling things. Trying to figure out my emotions. Pilling over through all of them. I figured out something..."
"That would be?"
"I like Sonic."
"...Sorry to hear that?"
"Thank you."
"No offense. Why are you telling me this?"
"Well. A couple of reason. Number 1: I know your in the same predicament. Number 2: I also find you attractive. So I'm proposing, we get together instead of getting together with that ridiculous blue... idiot."
"I hate that you figured that first thing out and also, what?"
"It's unorthodox but we could make it work, I'm going to say it's better than the alternative."
Knuckles inspects the hedgehog. He isn't bad and he's right. So Knuckles makes a decision, pretty quickly actually.
"I agree"
"Good to hear."
The two sit at the Master Emerald for a bit.
"Aren't you going to go?"
"Isn't having a significant other mean spending time with them?"
Knuckles hums in agreement. He could get used to this. It was a lot better than the alternative. Shadow was nice to have around.
