Chapter 41: Honor
In a cozy classroom, Sheng Wang sat beside Jiang Tian, feeling a bit playful. " Ano nga ulit ang tawag mo sakin?" he asked, his voice teasing.
Jiang Tian, always the cool one, half-raised his eyes and stared at Sheng Wang, waiting for an answer. Sheng Wang, unable to keep up the act, quickly gave in. "panget," he said.
'' Parang hindi yan ang sinabi mo sakin. ''
'' b-brothe—happy? '' , pulling his hand away from Jiang Tian's fingers with a small smile.
Suyu , sitting across from them, couldn't help but laugh. Sheng Wang, feeling triumphant, raised his chin proudly. "Alright, enough messing around. Time to hit the books," he said, pretending to be serious.
Jiang Tian, still amused, plugged in his earphones and started spinning a pen between his fingers. His focus shifted back to his notebook as he began writing, the sound of his pen scribbling quietly filling the space between them.
suyu, on the other hand, was struggling with a set of questions. He picked up a pair of scissors, hesitated, and then decided to use his phone instead. He downloaded a scanning app, taking a picture of the wrong question. It was way easier than copying everything by hand, and for the first time in a long while, he felt good about his studies.
He glanced at Sheng Wang, who was now deeply focused on writing in his notebook. suyu thought, Is he practicing calligraphy? He shook his head, amused by the sight.
pete, freshly showered, walked in, drying his short hair with a towel. "I'm done. Who's next?" he asked, glancing around.
Sheng Wang looked up. "What time does the school turn off the lights?"
"11:20," pete replied, sitting down to check his messages.
"Oh, no rush then," Sheng Wang said, finishing up his practice and picking up another book.
Pete , feeling a bit restless, decided to join the conversation. "ano yang binabasa mo?" he asked Jiang Tian, leaning over.
Jiang Tian simply lifted the book cover, letting pete see for himself. "This book? Our physics teacher recommended it too," pete remarked. "Is it useful?"
"Not much," Jiang Tian replied coolly.
Pete feeling a bit deflated, turned his attention to Sheng Wang. "What about you? English?"
"Yeah," Sheng Wang replied, still focused on his work. "Sister andy said the competition results are coming soon, so I'm checking over some things."
Pete nodded, but something about Sheng Wang's calm confidence intrigued him. He chatted with a girl from his class, asking about the competition. She seemed convinced that making it to the semi-finals was nearly impossible.
"Is the top 40 really that hard to reach?" Pete asked, half to himself.
Sheng Wang, overhearing, smiled. "It's a bit tough, but Sister andy said it's possible."
Pete wasn't sure what to think. He liked Sheng Wang, but he couldn't help but wonder if he was being a bit too optimistic. Yet, there was something about Sheng Wang's quiet determination that made him want to believe.
A few days later, the competition results were announced. Mrs. Sarah, their teacher, walked into the classroom with a serious expression. The room was tense as she began, "The results are out. We have two certificates here—one for the second prize, and one for the first."
The class let out a collective sigh of relief, but Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian exchanged knowing glances.
Ben , sitting nearby, whispered, "What's going on? May tinatago ba kayo sa amin. Tell me! ''
Before they could respond, Mrs. sarah continued, "And as for the other two who took the exam..." The room went silent. "They're advancing to the next round."
The class erupted into cheers, realizing that Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian had made it to the top 40 in the province. Mrs. sarah grinned, her usual stern demeanor giving way to pride. "You've made history for our school. The Wall of Honor awaits! Congrats."
As the classroom buzzed with excitement, Sheng Wang leaned over to Jiang Tian, a playful smile on his lips. "Looks like I owe you a barbecue," he whispered.
Jiang Tian chuckled softly. "yun lang ba?." He says then give him smile.
Jiang tian is so handsome while smiling..
Sheng Wang smiled, feeling a warm flutter in his chest. In that moment, the honor they had achieved wasn't just about the competition—it was about the bond they shared, a bond that made everything feel just a little bit sweeter.
