Chapter 79: Sweet

The morning was unexpectedly gloomy, with gray mist drifting over the school grounds. Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian, feeling the effects of a restless night, made their way to Mingdao Building. As they walked, they overheard teachers whispering, their voices hushed when they saw the students approaching.

"Did you catch any of that?" Sheng Wang asked, glancing back.

Jiang Tian shook his head. "Nope. But it's probably nothing."

"Maybe," Sheng Wang said, trying to lighten the mood. "Give me your hand for some fairy energy."

Jiang Tian raised an eyebrow but held out his hand. Sheng Wang gently rubbed it. "Just a little charm for good luck!"

Before Jiang Tian could respond, a group of boys, led by Ben and Dave, rushed up the stairs. " Hoy salit kami, gusto rin namin yan!" Ben shouted, and soon Jiang Tian was surrounded.

"Is this your idea of fun?" Jiang Tian asked Sheng Wang, playfully annoyed.

Sheng Wang grinned and blew a kiss before trying to slip away, only to be blocked by a group of giggling girls. As they greeted Jiang Tian, Sheng Wang received a light tap on the head.

"What's that for?" Sheng Wang asked, turning to see Jiang Tian with a mischievous smile.

Jiang Tian tapped the corner of Sheng Wang's mouth. "Just fixing this little tear from last night's prank."

Sheng Wang licked his lip and smiled. "You win this time."

During lunch, the conversation shifted to a somber note. Rumors swirled about a body found in the river. The old man from the neighborhood, known for his tall tales, shared more details.

"They found the body, but it wasn't a student," he said. "It's all exaggerated."

Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian, though worried, tried to focus on their meal. The old man's comforting presence and his chicken soup provided some distraction.

Later, the old man had a fall and was taken to the hospital. Kyle and Jr visited and reassured Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian that he was stable.

"Focus on your exams," Kyle advised.

"The old man will be fine."

Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian, though concerned, felt a wave of relief. They returned to their exams, finding comfort in their friendship and the support from loved ones.

As they walked back to their dorms, Jiang Tian slipped his hand into Sheng Wang's. "You were really sweet today."
