A Certain Someone:

Chapter 90: Dull Knife

Jiang Tian's sleep was restless, filled with unsettling dreams. He woke up to find Sheng Wang sitting by him, illuminated by the soft glow of the lights.

"Brother," Sheng Wang whispered, his gaze tender. "I'm 18 now. I love you."

Jiang Tian's heart melted at Sheng Wang's words. The heaviness from his dreams seemed to lift. He tried to kiss Sheng Wang back but remembered they were still in the living room, the most exposed place in the house. He hesitated and pulled away.

"What time is it?" Jiang Tian asked softly.

"It's 1:20," Sheng Wang replied with a smile.

Touched, Jiang Tian reached out and gently caressed Sheng Wang's face. "Have you been waiting for me?"

"No," Sheng Wang chuckled. "I kept checking the time, hoping you'd wake up on your own."

Their moment was interrupted when Clark, in slippers, approached them. "Jiang Tian, you're awake? Are you hungry? Your aunt san made miso soup; it's still warm."

"I'm fine," Jiang Tian said, glancing toward the bedroom. He felt a mix of gratitude and awkwardness for Clark's support despite the recent chaos.

Clark, with tired eyes, reassured him. "Today's troubles are behind us. Don't worry about it."

After Clark left, Sheng Wang gently pulled Jiang Tian upstairs. They both knew the recent events had taken a toll. In their room, Sheng Wang took Jiang Tian's hand. "I won't pull away from you again."

Jiang Tian looked at him, touched. "I'm afraid it's not that simple."

They talked quietly about their families, their struggles, and their hopes. Sheng Wang shared, "My dad's a mix of traditional and open-minded. He didn't react well to talks about homosexuality, but he's not openly hostile."

Jiang Tian nodded, understanding the complexities. "malalagpasan natin ito," he said, offering a reassuring smile.

The next morning brought more challenges. Lea, overwhelmed, had an accident in the kitchen, spilling a pot of hot stew. She tried to downplay it, but the cake delivery had to be moved inside.

Sheng Wang was disappointed when the fondant cake arrived with cracks. "It's not perfect," he said sadly.

Jiang Tian took the cake upstairs, determined to cherish it. "It's a special gift. We'll make the best of it," he said, smiling as he placed it gently on their dresser.

As Lea's condition worsened, Clark had to cancel the planned banquet. Jiang Tian and Sheng Wang stepped up, handling the extra tasks with care. Clark's frequent mentions of Jiang Tian as "my son" became a comforting gesture.

On the last day of winter vacation, Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian sat on opposite ends of the sofa, separated by the narrow light from the ajar bedroom door. Sheng Wang looked at Jiang Tian, his thoughts racing.

"Do you think we're still a couple, even if we're separated by a little light?" Sheng Wang asked, his voice soft.

Jiang Tian reached out, closing the gap between them. "of course," he said with a smile. "We're just facing obstacles. But our love is strong. Mahal kita."

They leaned into each other, finding comfort in their shared warmth. Despite the challenges, their love remained steadfast. As they faced their struggles together, they knew that with patience and understanding, they would navigate through the obstacles and come out stronger.
