A Certain Someone: Chapter 44 - Strangers

The sun lit a warm glow over the playground, where students excitedly buzzed. The grass was still damp from the morning dew, and the atmosphere was alive with cheers and laughter.

Sheng Wang, feeling the heat, fanned his collar and turned to Jiang Tian. "This doesn't feel like a bet at all. Lugi ako oh!"

Jiang Tian raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk on his lips. "Why didn't you feel like you were losing when you were cheating on me?"

Sheng Wang chuckled, the cool autumn breeze making him feel more at ease. "Oh, that's different. You said you were cheating!"

ben, who was filling his water bottle, joined in.

" baliw. Wala ah," Sheng Wang said, casually pointing to Jiang Tian's clothes. "Just that you're a giant pit."

The trio focused on the race unfolding on the field. Sheng Wang, mentally preparing himself, was surprised by kyle's performance. "Did you tell me dave was saving his strength for the final sprint?" he asked.

Ben laughed. "Does he even need strength for 200 meters?"

As if to prove Ben right, kyle struggled as he was overtaken by other runners. ben , always blunt, commented, "You'll see in the last 50 meters. It'll look like a hamster wheel effect—fast but not really."

When kyle handed the baton to Liza, Class A had fallen to fifth place. Ben tried to keep spirits up. "Steady now! Remember our class slogan: Win or lose, we're still awesome."

Sheng Wang turned to Jiang Tian with a serious expression. "Why did I promise to throw this guy up?"

Jiang Tian, equally serious, replied, "I've been wondering the same thing."

Ben, ever the optimist, raised his water bottle in a mock toast. "Respect the great friendship," he said.

Liza, struggling, finally passed the baton to Sheng Wang. Her tears were evident, but Sheng Wang's reassuring smile seemed to give her a bit of relief. "Oh, don't cry," he said gently.

Sheng Wang's performance continued to captivate. When he handed the baton to Chili, she surged ahead with incredible speed, overtaking several runners. The cheers for Class A grew louder, and a boy shouted, "Chili Pepper will officially be named Hot Wheels today!"

As the race neared its end, Sheng Wang watched with concern. A girl stumbled with her baton, and the seventh runner was bumped and nearly fell. Sheng Wang, seeing the chaos, rushed across the playground to Jiang Tian.

"Okay, your old mentality is stable, I'll retire!" ben said, cupping his hands.

Sheng Wang was about to cross the finish line when the grounds teacher started signaling. Ben stopped him. "Don't just stand there. Shout something!"

Sheng Wang, momentarily unsure, decided to cheer. "Run well, Brother!" he called out.

Turning the corner towards the check-in office, Jiang Tian suddenly stopped, his gaze fixed on something ahead. Sheng Wang followed his gaze and saw a man descending the steps—Jiang Tian's father, Philip.

Sheng Wang remembered seeing Philip before, outside of their place. The man's dignified demeanor was unmistakable.

Jiang Tian's posture stiffened, and Sheng Wang released his grip. Philip gaze shifted to Sheng Wang before returning to Jiang Tian.

"Who is this classmate?" Philip asked, curious.

Jiang Tian's voice was cold as he responded, "It's none of your business." He gave Sheng Wang a light pat on the shoulder. "Let's go."

Despite the external calm, the encounter left anundercurrent of tension. Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian walked away together, theirearlier joy mingling with the unresolved feelings of the moment.
