A Certain Someone Chapter 57: Unspoken Feelings

The soft click of the bathroom door lock was followed by the gentle hum of running water and the rustling of clothes. Jiang Tian leaned against the doorway, his eyes drifting to the sliver of steam escaping from beneath the louvered fan. He noticed a wet trail on the floor and raised an eyebrow, puzzled.

"Hoy, SuYu," Jiang Tian began, his voice casual but curious. "What's going on with Sheng Wang?"

SuYu looked up from where he was tucking a notebook under his pillow. He blinked, a hint of surprise in his eyes. "What do you mean?" he replied, trying to mask his guilt with a grin.

"We were just watching a horror movie. Sheng Wang joined me because I needed a bit of courage."

Jiang Tian raised an eyebrow. "Courage for horror movies? Were you guys... shaking in fear together?"

SuYu laughed, his cheeks coloring slightly. "Not exactly. Sheng Wang is braver than I am. He was switching the scenes for me while I tried not to get too scared. I was actually planning to shower when he came back."

Jiang Tian's curiosity deepened. "So, Sheng Wang's not afraid of horror movies at all?"

"Not at all," SuYu confirmed. "He's seen so many that he says he's numb to them now. When he was younger, he watched them alone to build up his courage."

Jiang Tian thought for a moment. The last time he saw Sheng Wang looking so calm was when he was helping him with his homework, his eyes filled with sleepy determination. Jiang Tian couldn't help but feel a pang of concern.

At that moment, Sheng Wang emerged from the bathroom, his hair damp and a fresh towel draped over his shoulders. He glanced up and saw Jiang Tian standing there. "Oh, hi," Sheng Wang said, blinking away the moisture from his eyelashes. "I didn't see you there. What's up?"

Jiang Tian gave a small smile. "Just needed to shower. Didn't mean to startle you."

Sheng Wang chuckled softly. "No worries. It's pretty warm in there; you might want to wait a bit."

Jiang Tian nodded and stepped into the bathroom, the warmth and scent of bath soap lingering in the air. As he turned on the shower, he couldn't help but think about the conversation with SuYu and how it reminded him of Sheng Wang's resilience.

When Jiang Tian returned to the room, SuYu was busy scrolling through his phone, his face lit up with a happy smile. Sheng Wang watched him with a curious expression. "Who's got you grinning like that?" he asked.

SuYu looked up, his smile widening. "Oh, it's just a classmate. We're talking about the upcoming school event."

Sheng Wang's gaze softened as he noticed the genuine happiness on SuYu's face. "She sounds like someone special."

SuYu nodded eagerly. "She really is. There's something about her that makes me smile every time we talk."

Sheng Wang's thoughts drifted to his own feelings. He had been struggling to understand why his heart raced when he saw Jiang Tian. As he listened to SuYu, he couldn't help but think about how Jiang Tian's presence made him feel.

Later that night, as the rain began to patter softly against the window, Sheng Wang lay in bed, staring at the blurred reflections of the street lamps through the glass. He noticed a new message from Jiang Tian on his phone:

"Are you still awake?"

Sheng Wang's heart skipped a beat. He glanced over at Jiang Tian, who was lying on the bottom bunk with his hand resting on his neck, his face partially hidden in shadow. He looked peaceful, but Sheng Wang could sense a subtle tension.

He turned back to his phone, contemplating his feelings. After a few moments, he changed Jiang Tian's contact name to "Brother<3," a simple yet profound shift. He felt a mixture of relief and sadness, understanding that his feelings were becoming more complex.
