Chapter 74: Leg Numbness
Jiang Tian was barely aware of his surroundings as he lay in bed, feeling feverish and drained.
Sheng Wang, determined to help, found the infirmary and filled the kettle with water, knowing Jiang Tian would need it. When he returned, Jiang Tian was already awake but clearly struggling.
"Give me five minutes," Jiang Tian rasped, trying to sit up.
Sheng Wang was baffled. "Five minutes? You're not going anywhere. You're staying in bed."
Jiang Tian managed a weak smile. "I'll be fine. I just want to go to class."
"I was just washing up," Jiang Tian replied, his voice still hoarse.
Sheng Wang placed the medicine and porridge on the table. "You need to rest. I'll take care of everything."
Jiang Tian looked at him with gratitude. "You're being really nice. Thank you."
"Of course," Sheng Wang said, helping him back into bed. "You're not getting out of this. I'll stay here until you're better."
As Jiang Tian settled back into bed, Sheng Wang stayed by his side, occasionally adjusting the covers as Jiang Tian tossed and turned. It became clear that Jiang Tian was unusually clingy when sick, and Sheng Wang found himself enjoying the extra closeness.
When Sheng Wang's legs went numb from sitting too long, Jiang Tian noticed. "Are you okay?" he asked, concerned.
"My legs are numb," Sheng Wang admitted with a laugh. "I've been sitting for ages."
Jiang Tian reached out and gently massaged Sheng Wang's legs. "Let me help."
Sheng Wang's heart warmed at the tender touch. "Thanks. I didn't expect you to be so caring."
Jiang Tian smiled softly. "You're always there for me. It's the least that I can do."
They sat in comfortable silence, Sheng Wang feeling Jiang Tian's warmth beside him. The intimate moment made him realize how special their bond was.
As Jiang Tian's fever started to break, he turned to Sheng Wang and said, "You're not just a friend, you know."
Sheng Wang's heart fluttered. "Neither are you."
They shared a quiet smile, the room filled with a gentle warmth that went beyond just caring for each other.
