Chapter 61: Gifts

Jiang Tian's grandpa always preferred old gadgets. His phone, with a font as big as a copper bell, was proof of that. Jiang Tian once tried to gift him a smartphone, even promising to teach him how to use it, but Grandpa refused, grumbling that his eyesight wasn't what it used to be.

One evening, Sheng Wang received an unexpected call from Grandpa. "Philip's here, bothering me again. Take Jiang Tian somewhere else to eat. Don't tell him Philip's here."

Sheng Wang chuckled. Grandpa's fake angry tone gave it away. "I'll see what I can do," he teased, knowing Jiang Tian's mood would sour if he heard Philip's name.

Jiang Tian, quick to act, snatched Ben's campus card and dangled it in front of him. "I'll buy pork cutlet," he said coolly. "Now say that again."

Sheng Wang couldn't help but laugh. Even the simplest moments with Jiang Tian made him feel lighter. As they stood in line for food, Jiang Tian turned to him, voice low and calm, "Are you hot?"

Dinner passed quickly, and as they returned to the classroom for self-study, Sheng Wang's mind drifted back to the earlier call. He was curious, but he didn't want to push Jiang Tian about his relationship with Philip. Instead, he found himself focusing on the way Jiang Tian always seemed to quietly care for him, in small, unexpected ways.

Later that evening, when Sheng Wang returned to the dormitory earlier than usual, he looked around. "Where's Jiang Tian?" he asked.

"He's still studying," Pete replied, not looking up from his phone. "He's been working on some competition stuff."

Sheng Wang nodded and went to the balcony to cool off. He sat there, lost in thought, until he heard the balcony door creak open behind him.

For a moment, they stood in the quiet of the balcony, the evening air cool around them. Sheng Wang hesitated, then leaned in, resting his forehead lightly against Jiang Tian's. "Thank you," he whispered.

Jiang Tian's hand found its way to Sheng Wang's, their fingers brushing together. "I missed you."

Sheng Wang smiled, squeezing his hand gently. "I will."
