Chapter 51: Thief

The National Day break was winding down, and Sheng Wang, having finally finished his mountain of homework, sat down with a sigh of relief. He picked up his phone and texted Jiang Tian, "Get some food, I'm starving. What do you want to eat?"

Jiang Tian, with his usual nonchalant attitude, replied, "Don't be too weird."

Jiang Tian's ability to eat anything without a fuss had once led to a surprise reaction from the old man when he found Jiang Tian eating a dish he had never cooked before. The old man was so astonished he nearly threw his chopsticks in frustration.

"People like you are a treasure," the old man once said, shaking his head in disbelief.

Despite this, Sheng Wang knew the old man had a soft spot for him. Jiang Tian, on the other hand, had his own way of handling the old man's culinary experiments—he always asked, "Don't be too weird" before diving in.

As Sheng Wang finished ordering a barbecue feast to satisfy his hunger, xander and kaimook showed up at their door with an unusual amount of excitement. Lao Mao was waving his phone, "Battles! Crayfish and sixties are on the way! I ordered them just for tonight!"

He dragged a small suitcase behind him, proudly unveiling a can of beer. "Not moving, just prepared. Auntie can't check this suitcase."

Sheng Wang raised an eyebrow. "You should just open a shop."

"Actually," sabi ni Kaimook na may ngiti, "nag-start ako ng maliit na negosyo. Nag-aalok ako ng instant noodles, ham sausages, spicy chips, at potato chips. Mayroon ding poker at mahjong na pwedeng rentahan."

Hindi napigilan ni Sheng Wang ang pagtawa. "Wow, business yarn?."

Si Jiang Tian, na laging practical, ay nagdagdag, "Pero huwag kang umorder ng sobra."

Nakatitig sina Xander at Kaimook kay Sheng Wang habang iniipon niya ang kanyang order. Nang dumating ang pagkain, nagpasya si Jiang Tian na samahan silang bumaba para kunin ito.

The sight of four big bags of barbecue and two boxes of lobster left Xander and kaimook in awe. Jiang Tian, aware of Sheng Wang's generous nature, remarked, "Brother Sheng isn't usually this extravagant, but he does know how to treat guests."

After all the food was spread out, Sheng Wang couldn't resist the temptation and snatched some skewers from the pile, causing Jiang Tian to laugh.

Later that night, after a long day, Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian settled into their dormitory. The weather had turned stiflingly hot, and the dorms were uncomfortable with the air-conditioning turned off.

The boys in 601 had decided to leave their doors open to enjoy the cool night breeze. Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian, however, preferred their privacy and kept their door closed.

Nang gabing iyon, habang sinusubukan ng dalawang boys na makatulog, nagising si Sheng Wang sa kakaibang pakiramdam. Nakita niyang may anino na dumaan sa tabi ng kanyang kama at, kalahating tulog, bumulong siya, "Anong oras na?" Nang walang sumagot, bumalik siya sa mahimbing na pagkatulog na medyo magulo.

Hindi nagtagal, nagising din si Jiang Tian. Naglakad sila sa dormitory at sinuri kung may kakaiba, ngunit walang makitang problema. Jiang Tian, climbing up to his bunk, hesitated and asked, "Are you afraid?"

Sheng Wang, still drowsy, mumbled, "Not really."

The gentle night breeze rustled through the room, and Jiang Tian's concern was clear. He paused, then offered, "If you're uncomfortable, I can make up the bed for you."

Sheng Wang's heart warmed at the gesture. He smiled, "I'll be fine. Thanks, though."

Jiang Tian, showing his considerate side, adjusted the blanket on Sheng Wang's bed, making it more comfortable. As Sheng Wang watched Jiang Tian's thoughtful actions, he felt a deep sense of gratitude.

The two settled in for the night, their earlier fears forgotten as they drifted into a peaceful sleep. Despite the unsettling events, their bond remained strong, and they were grateful for each other's company.
