A Certain Someone: Chapter 47 - The Unexpected Encounter

"Hey, Brother Tian," Suyu began, leaning in casually, "I heard a funny rumor. They say your teacher's signature looks just like yours!"

Jiang Tian, still typing away on facebook, frowned and glanced up. "Really? Who told you that?"

Suyu shifted uncomfortably. "Uh, Sheng Wang mentioned it. I thought you might know something about it."

Jiang Tian's lips twitched into a small smile. "Oh, did he?"

Suyu relaxed a bit, happy that he got a reaction. "Yeah, I just wanted to see if it was true."

Jiang Tian went back to his phone, his mood noticeably lighter. Suyu, curious about the other person in the chat, tried to sneak a peek. But Jiang Tian was too focused, his smile widening as he typed.

Suyu pulled out a note, trying to take advantage of Jiang Tian's good mood. "Hey, since you're in a good mood, could you maybe imitate Pete's signature for me?"

Before Jiang Tian could respond, his phone lit up with a barrage of messages from someone named "Sticker."

Sticker: Jiang Tian
Sticker: Jiang Tian
Sticker: Jiang Tian

Jiang Tian, looking puzzled, opened the messages. They were from Sheng Wang.

Sticker: Are you coming soon?
Sticker: Did you really make it to school?
Sticker: Why can't I see you?

Realizing Sheng Wang was waiting for him, Jiang Tian quickly stood up. "I've got to go. See you later, Suyu."

He dashed out of the dorm, weaving through the crowd of students and teachers. The campus was gradually coming back to life with the return of the power, and the streetlights began to flicker on.

At the west gate, Sheng Wang was leaning against the guard pavilion, his schoolbag slung over one shoulder. He had a frustrated look on his face as he scrolled through his phone.

When Jiang Tian finally arrived, Sheng Wang's expression shifted from annoyance to surprise. "You actually came!"

Jiang Tian, catching his breath, gave a casual shrug. "I'm here now. What's up?"

Sheng Wang rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his smile. "I was starting to think you were pulling my leg. I've been standing here forever. Plus, Auntie San at home won't stop making pig trotters for me. It's driving me nuts!"

Jiang Tian chuckled. "Pig trotters are good for you. But if you need a break from all that, I'm happy to keep you company."

Sheng Wang grinned, his mood lifting. "Thanks. I guess it's nice to have a reason to get out. Oh, and did I really gain weight?"

Jiang Tian gave him a playful look. "Maybe just a little."

Sheng Wang feigned a pout. "You're terrible!"

Jiang Tian laughed and lightly nudged Sheng Wang. "Come on, let's get out of here."

As they walked together, they passed through the Sculpture Garden. The romantic atmosphere was evident, with couples holding hands and sharing sweet moments. Sheng Wang glanced at the couples and then at Jiang Tian, feeling a bit awkward.

Jiang Tian noticed and offered a reassuring smile. "We don't have to walk this way if it's too much."

Sheng Wang's face relaxed. "No, it's fine. I'm glad you're here."

They continued their walk, side by side. The earlier tension was replaced by a comfortable silence and the occasional shared smile. The night had turned from a frustrating ordeal into a pleasant surprise, thanks to their unexpected encounter.

"Oo nga, eh," sagot niya, may kasamang kilig.

Sheng Wang's eyes sparkled with appreciation. "Yeah, and I couldn't have asked for better company."

Jiang Tian's smile grew warmer. "Same here."

In that moment, under the streetlights and amidst the quiet of the night, the connection between them felt a little bit stronger, and the night seemed a little bit brighter.
