A Certain Someone
Chapter 102: Sterilization

Of course, Sheng Wang knew that Clark couldn't resolve years of tension over just one meal. But during their dinner, he had sensed his father's hesitation, the tiny cracks of uncertainty that had begun to show, and for now, that was enough. On the way back, Sheng Wang found himself becoming more and more elated, an excitement bubbling up inside him that he couldn't quite contain. His thoughts, however, soon shifted to two other people.

"When are Aunt Lea and Old man coming?" Sheng Wang asked.

Jiang Tian, engrossed in responding to messages on his phone, paused for a moment and replied, "Still a while."

Before returning to manila, the Old man had been part of a sanatorium in cooperation with a travel agency that arranged therapeutic, vacation-like trips for elderly patients with similar conditions. The idea was to keep their spirits up with a relaxed change of environment. Aunt Lea had gone along to care for Old Man and take some time for herself.

According to the schedule, they were expected to arrive in manila by the end of the month.

Sheng Wang couldn't help but feel a flicker of fear at the thought of Aunt Lea's previous outbursts. She had been hysterical the last time he saw her, and it had left an impression. Yet, he also remembered how she had once been warm and motherly, treating him like her own son. People didn't change from good to bad overnight, did they? The travel and time away might help, or at least that's what he hoped. Somewhere inside, he was holding onto that sliver of optimism, hoping things could move in a better direction. Clark was loosening up; maybe Aunt Lea would, too.

With these thoughts swirling in his mind, Sheng Wang decided to drive around Cebu.

Jiang Tian wasn't entirely familiar with Philippines's roads, but he wasn't completely lost either. He could still read the road signs, after all.

Peering at a large street sign, Jiang Tian asked, "Are we heading back?"

"Just grabbing a change of clothes," Sheng Wang replied casually, already acting like Jiang Tian's place was his own. "I'm thinking of staying there for the rest of the holiday."

Then, as if remembering that the actual owner of the house was sitting next to him, Sheng Wang feigned politeness and asked, "Is it alright if I crash at your place for a couple of days? Please?"

Jiang Tian, rather than annoyed, actually enjoyed this unspoken "territory-claiming" behavior. Relaxed and slightly tipsy from dinner, he leaned back against the passenger seat, his voice low and teasing, "Give me a reason."

"You still want to act all difficult?" Sheng Wang mused. After a moment of thought, he said, "I want to play with Wang. Is that a good enough reason? Anak ko rin siya. Ang cute kaya niya kapag kinakawag kawag ang buntot nito."

"Rejected," Jiang Tian said, deadpan.

"Come on, I already named him Wang! Can't I at least play with him? Andamot! Hmp!"

Jiang Tian smirked. "Nope, you still don't have the right."

Sheng Wang sighed dramatically. "Fine, then can I mess around with you instead?"

As soon as the words left his mouth, he realized how suggestive it sounded, and an awkward silence filled the car. Sheng Wang cleared his throat, trying to salvage the situation. "I didn't mean it like that! I mean, should we use a different verb?"

"Touch? That sounds even worse," Sheng Wang said, cringing.

"Play? Nah, that doesn't sound right either." The more he tried to explain, the more suggestive it became.
