 Chapter 55 - Repeat

Hindi maganda ang tulog ni Sheng Wang kamakailan. Ang mga araw sa school ay puno ng jokes at tawa, na kadalasang nakakalimot sa kanya sa mga problema. Laging may kalokohan sina Ben at Dave, na madalas na inaabala siya at si Jiang Tian sa kanilang mga biro. Madalas mang-asar si Ben, "Bakit ganito kalaki ang bibig ko?" habang nag-aasaran sina Sheng Wang at Jiang Tian. Three days later, Sheng Wang's exhaustion was evident. His usually bright skin looked pale, and dark circles had formed under his eyes. This morning, he skipped breakfast and dozed off at his desk. The noise of ben shouting, "Chili, give me the chemistry notes! Quick! Liza is coming soon!" jolted him awake.

He blinked groggily and noticed a plastic bag next to him. It had a dark blue logo, and inside were a cup of tofu brain, a boiled egg, and a can of milk. The tofu brain was from the first floor of the cafeteria, which Sheng Wang preferred. The boiled egg was a surprise, and the milk was the familiar little red can.

Nang buksan ni Sheng Wang ang bag, isang maliit na ngiti ang sumibol sa kanyang mukha. Dinala sa kanya ni Jiang Tian ang almusal na madalas niyang ginagawa. Isang nakakaaliw na ugali, isang maliit na kilos na maraming kahulugan.

Napansin ni Ben ang mga dark circles ni Sheng Wang at nagtanong, "Brother Sheng, bakit parang may mga dark circles ka?"

"Insomnia," sagot ni Sheng Wang, sinisikap na maging casual.

Sheng Wang sighed, pointing towards the front. "Old man is here. Are you going to get out?"

Ben , still curious, shrugged and said, " bahala ka. I'll ask Jiang Tian. Maybe he knows what's up with you."

Jiang Tian, overhearing, quickly said, "There's nothing wrong with the dormitory."

Sheng Wang was relieved. The class began, and Lao He's arrival shifted everyone's focus to the lesson. Sheng Wang's tension slowly eased, but he couldn't shake off the little disappointment he felt when Jiang Tian didn't press further about his sleep troubles.

During the class, Sheng Wang received a facebook notification from Jiang Tian. It was a screenshot of a health tip about boiled eggs reducing dark circles. Sheng Wang's heart warmed at the thoughtfulness behind the gesture.

Nag-type si Sheng Wang ng mabilis na "Thanks" pero napansin niyang masyadong formal ito. Kaya't nagpadala siya ng mas casual na "Oh" at idinagdag, "Ano ang kwento sa mga boiled eggs?"

Sumagot si Jiang Tian ng simpleng "Hmm."

Pagkatapos, nagtanong si Jiang Tian, "Bakit hindi ka makatulog?"

Nag-atubili si Sheng Wang. Hindi pa siya handang ibahagi ang lahat, pero nais niyang maging tapat. Nag-type siya, "Hindi, nightmares lang lately. Hindi naman talaga insomnia."

Jiang Tian didn't respond immediately, leaving Sheng Wang to sip from his can of milk, feeling the warmth from the small red can.

Suddenly, Jiang Tian leaned in and whispered, "Did something scare you outside the school that night?"

Sheng Wang almost choked on his milk, his face turning red. He wasn't expecting this.

Jiang Tian's concern was evident in his gentle tone. Despite the awkwardness, Sheng Wang felt a rush of warmth. Jiang Tian cared, and that made all the difference.

With a shy smile, Sheng Wang looked over his shoulder and met Jiang Tian's eyes. "It's nothing serious," he said softly, appreciating the caring gesture more than he could express.

And as the class continued, Sheng Wang found comfort in knowing that Jiang Tian was there, looking out for him in his own quiet way.
