Chapter 98: Opening

It felt surreal to be in Cebu, specifically in naga. is so far from everything Jiang Tian knew. He stared at the project schedule, his mind racing with thoughts of what could go wrong. With a sigh, he checked his phone again and found a call from Kyle.

"I'll take this," he said to his professor, stepping out of the seminar room.

"Hey, Brother," Kyle's relaxed voice greeted him.

"Sorry for the delay. Things got a bit hectic," Jiang Tian replied.

"Just as well," Kyle said, chuckling. "I'm in the mountains with two old folks at a hot spring. Quite peaceful here, actually. I was joking about Sheng Wang, but you should just tell me where he is, and I'll come find him for you."

Jiang Tian hesitated, "He's been avoiding me. I'm afraid if I give him more time, he might just run away."

As Jiang Tian ended the call, he felt a mix of resolve and anxiety. He knew that finding Sheng Wang would be more than just a search—it was about facing his feelings and hopes.

The next morning, Sheng Wang's day began with an unwelcome wake-up call from Ben.

"Five o'clock in the morning na, Sheng Wang. Time to get up! Wag ka na ng tulog prinsesa dyan." Ben's voice boomed through the phone.

"Okay, okay," Sheng Wang mumbled, half-awake. "I'll meet you later."

Ben's curiosity got the better of him. "So, what's the plan? How are you dealing with everything?"

Sheng Wang sighed. "I'm just trying to get through the day. Things are complicated right now."

Ben, not one to miss an opportunity to dig, pressed further. "What's the plan for Jiang Tian? You two have some unfinished business, right?"

Sheng Wang hesitated. "I don't know. Ang gulo. I'll figure it out."

Later that evening, after a day full of meetings, Sheng Wang found himself at a company dinner. The festivities were in full swing, and he was drowning in the noise and laughter. Gu Hai, ever the gossip enthusiast, kept sending him photos of Jiang Tian, who was attending a seminar back in US.

Sheng Wang stared at the photos, each one a reminder of what he missed. He saw Jiang Tian in different settings, surrounded by people. It was like Jiang Tian was everywhere, and yet nowhere near him.

Gu Hai's messages were relentless. "Saw Jiang Tian again. He's been pretty active lately. Any plans?"

Sheng Wang's frustration grew. He remembered the days when they were together, and the sudden realization of his own mistakes hit hard. He decided to act. After a quick resolution of his business trip, he booked a flight back to manila, determined to fix things before it was too late.

Arriving in manila, he was met with a flurry of New Year's celebrations. Despite his exhaustion, he couldn't ignore the sense of urgency that pushed him forward. Gu Hai, ever the helpful friend, created a new Facebook group with the name " Project Exchange and Cooperation Group." Sheng Wang saw the group and felt a pang of nostalgia.

He scanned through the group, seeing messages and photos, including one with a cat that caught his eye. It was familiar and comforting. Realizing it was a sign, he took a deep breath and messaged Ben.

"I'll be back on the 3rd. If the party is on the 4th, I'll be there."

Ben's response was a mix of confusion and excitement. "Okay, see you then!"

Sheng Wang's trip back to manila ended sooner than expected. He had to attend a celebratory dinner, and by the time it was over, he was quite drunk. Gu Hai, noticing his state, offered to call a car for him.

As Sheng Wang leaned against the car window, he reflected on the past. The city lights blurred together, and he thought about the time he spent with Jiang Tian. When the car stopped, he received a call from Jiang Tian.

"Nasa school ka ba?" puno ng pag-aalala ang boses ni Jiang Tian.

"Oo," sagot ni Sheng Wang, habang humuhuni ang hangin sa speaker ng telepono. "Papunta ako sa'yo, pero hindi ako sigurado kung saan ka nakatira."

Jiang Tian, upon hearing this, hurried downstairs. The campus was quiet, with only a few couples whispering as they walked by. Jiang Tian scanned the area until he spotted Sheng Wang standing at the corner.

His heart raced as he approached, feeling a sense of déjà vu from their high school days. He stopped in front of Sheng Wang, who looked at him with a mix of relief and regret.

Sheng Wang's eyes glistened with unshed tears. "Brother, I've been thinking. Do you still want to pick up your lost property? "

Jiang Tian's heart swelled as he reached out, gently wiping away the tears from Sheng Wang's face. He then pulled Sheng Wang into a tender kiss, feeling the warmth and familiarity of their connection.

"Nandito na ako, wag ka nang umiyak." bulong ni Jiang Tian sa mga labi ni Sheng Wang. "Kahit ano ang mangyari, hahanapin natin ang solusyon nang magkasama. Namiss talaga kita."

The two stood there, wrapped in each other's embrace, the world around them fading into the background. It was a moment of rekindled love and renewed hope, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their journey.
