Chapter 64: Father and Son
In the bustling streets, Kyle headed into 7-Eleven while Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian made their way to Mingdao High School. Their steps were in sync, but the silence between them felt heavier with each passing moment.
"May narinig ako kanina. May nagugustuhan ka bang babae?"
"wala yun," Sheng Wang replied quickly, surprised by the question. "Just casual chat with Jr.."
Jiang Tian nodded, and the conversation drifted into silence again. They turned a corner and saw Philip, jiang tian's father. emerging from Old man courtyard, looking embarrassed.
Old man voice was sharp and full of anger. "Don't show your face here again! You're not welcome!"
Philip's face flushed with a mix of shame and frustration. He saw Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian, straightened his clothes, and walked towards them. "Jiang Tian, mag usap muna tayo. Can we discuss this somewhere else?"
Jiang Tian's expression hardened. "Say what you need to say here."
Philip sighed, knowing there was no point in pushing further. "Fine. It's about your mother. It's been years..naka move on na siya, sana pati ako... ''
Jiang Tian's face grew cold. "You have no right to talk about her."
Philip's shoulders slumped. "I know. I shouldn't have brought her up. I just wanted to apologize. I didn't handle things well back then."
Sheng Wang, standing nearby, felt a pang of empathy. He could see the strain in Philip's voice, but also the depth of regret.
As the conversation ended, Sheng Wang saw a different side of Jiang Tian—a mix of hurt and vulnerability. He gently placed a hand on Jiang Tian's shoulder. "It's okay to feel how you feel. You've got friends who care."
Jiang Tian looked at Sheng Wang, a small, grateful smile appearing. "Thanks."
Philip gave them a nod before walking away, leaving Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian alone in the quiet alley.
Jiang Tian turned to Sheng Wang, his earlier irritation softened. " Tara na, Gagabihin tayo.."
As they walked side by side, Sheng Wang felt the silence between them had shifted, now filled with unspoken understanding and a newfound closeness.
