Chapter 99: Melting
Sheng Wang felt a tear roll down his cheek, but he quickly blinked it away. His eyes were red, but no actual tears fell. Jiang Tian, who had seen this many times before, was gently kissing Sheng Wang's eyelids, tasting the saltiness.
"You always handle emotions this way," Jiang Tian said softly. "It's like you never cry, but you always feel deeply."
Sheng Wang, feeling a mix of confusion and warmth, followed Jiang Tian back to his apartment. Once inside, they leaned against the door, the room filled with the quiet intimacy of their shared moments.
Jiang Tian's kisses were tender and probing, as if confirming a cherished existence. Sheng Wang, though a bit tipsy, instinctively responded, their old memories of youthful affection coming alive.
"Can we be okay?" Jiang Tian asked, his voice low and sincere. "I don't want to wait anymore."
Sheng Wang hesitated, nodding slowly. "I'm different now. People say so."
As they moved to the sofa, a playful cat jumped up and startled Sheng Wang. He bumped into the coffee table, scratching his leg.
Jiang Tian quickly fetched an ointment, his touch tender as he applied a Band-Aid. "Don't worry," he said with a laugh,
"it's just a little scratch. The cat's just curious."
Sheng Wang grinned at the cat's antics and said, "Why are you so fat, huh? Ano bang pagkain nito?"
The cat looked away, seemingly disinterested, but Jiang Tian teased, "He's not fat, just fluffy."
With the wound tended to, Sheng Wang's mood lightened. He started chatting more, asking Jiang Tian about his life and sharing his own stories from college. They laughed about the mishaps and joys, reconnecting over shared memories.
Jiang Tian eventually went to get water. When he returned, Sheng Wang was already asleep, curled up on the bed. Jiang Tian leaned over, kissed his cheek, and whispered, "Happy New Year, Sheng."
In the quiet of the night, their past and present mingled, and Jiang Tian felt a profound sense of home with Sheng Wang by his side.
