Na-Rae: "why you're staring at me..." she whispered shyly, her voice soft, almost breathless.
Tae: He smiled, his fingers lingering on her skin. "Sorry, Minion, but I couldn't help it. I'm just... so happy you're here." His voice was sincere, full of warmth. "But if I was being too rough last night, I'm sorry."
Na-Rae blinked at him, a little taken aback by his words. She turned her head slightly, avoiding his gaze as her cheeks flushed even deeper.
Na-Rae: "No, Tae... you were gentle." Her voice was soft, almost a whisper, as she shyly met his eyes. "You always are..."
Tae: He raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eyes. "Should I take that as a compliment or a complaint, Minion?"
Na-Rae's eyes widened slightly, and she couldn't help but laugh nervously, feeling both shy and excited at his playful words.
Her laugh came nervously, yet it was light, and the room seemed to brighten. She playfully smacked his chest, but he caught her wrist mid-motion, bringing it to his lips and pressing a gentle kiss there.
Tae: His gaze softened, the playful glint replaced with raw sincerity. "I love you, my princess."
Na-Rae's heart swelled at his words, and she buried her face in his chest to hide her blush. "I love you too, Tae," she murmured, her voice muffled but brimming with emotion.
They stayed like that for a while, wrapped in each other's warmth. Tae's fingers trailed through her hair, playing with the strands as if memorizing their texture.
After a while, Tae gently pulled away, breaking the silence.
Tae: "I have to leave now, Minion," he said reluctantly. "I'll be back this afternoon. In the meantime, go to the King and gather as much information as you can."
Na-Rae: She pouted, but the determination in his eyes made her nod. "Alright. Be careful."
Tae: He smiled and stood, dressing swiftly. He glanced over his shoulder to see her peeking at him from under the blanket.
Tae: "Enjoying the view, Minion?" he teased.
Na-Rae: Her cheeks flushed, and she quickly looked away.
Chuckling, Tae leaned down to her level, cupping her face gently. "Don't look at me like that. I might lose control if you keep looking at me like that."
Na-Rae's blush deepened as she pushed him playfully. Na-Rae: "Stop teasing me, Tae."
Tae laughed, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead before pulling her into a final hug.
Tae: "See you later, Minion."
Na-Rae nodded, her heart already aching with the anticipation of his absence.
The Meeting with the king
Later that morning, Na-Rae made her way to the King's chambers. She took a deep breath before entering, her steps steady but her mind racing.
Na-Rae: Bowing deeply, she greeted him. "Appa."
The King's eyes softened as he stood and embraced her warmly.
King: "Princess Na-Rae, my daughter. How are you?"
Na-Rae: She hugged him back, feeling the comfort of his presence. "I'm good, Appa."
They sat down together, the conversation flowing easily at first. They talked about the palace, recent events, and shared quiet moments of laughter. But eventually, the air grew serious.
Na-Rae: "Appa, I need to talk to you about something important."
King: "I have something to discuss with you, my dear." both said at same time.
The king's gaze softened, though his posture straightened slightly. King: "What is it, my daughter?"
Na-Rae pulled out the hairpin, holding it delicately as she showed it to him. The king's expression changed instantly, his eyes misting with unshed tears as he stared at the intricate design.
King: His voice was heavy with emotion. "This... this was your mother's. She loved you so much, Na-Rae. She thought of nothing but you and me. You were her world."
Na-Rae: Tears welled up in her eyes as she gripped his hand tightly. "I miss her too, Appa."
The King wiped her tears gently and took a deep breath, his gaze growing firm.
King: "This hairpin isn't just a keepsake. It's a key. It will guide you to a hidden place deep in the forest. Only you and I can open its doors-our bloodline is the key. Inside lies everything your mother and I protected: wealth, documents, gems everything that ensures our legacy."
Na-Rae listened intently, nodding slowly. "Is it dangerous to go there?"
King: "It can be, but the Monks and scholars have protected the place with ancient powers. No one can touch it unless they bear our blood."
Na-Rae's mind raced. Then why is Mi-Rae Uncle is after Mi-Rae?
The King's gaze sharpened as he observed her silence.
King: "Is something bothering you, my daughter?"
Na-Rae quickly shook her head, masking her thoughts.
Na-Rae: "No, Appa... nothing."
The King sighed but nodded. "Go and rest, my princess. You've had a long day."
Na-Rae stood, bowing slightly before leaving the chambers. As the doors closed behind her, the King summoned his guards.
King: "Bring Taehyung to me."
