"Let's go back and tell the others," Tae suggested, and they turned back toward their friends, retracing their steps.
When they reached the group, Jungkook quickly recounted everything that had happened—the old woman, Ji-Mong, and the blinding light.
Na-Rae's eyes widened in disbelief. "Ji Bu-In is my grandmother's sister. I can't believe she's doing this."
Tae approached Na-Rae, trying to reassure her. "Don't worry, Minion. We'll sort this out."
Na-Rae nodded, determination crossing her face turned to jungkook. "I know when she'll be away from her chambers. I'll let you know when you can meet Mi-Rae."
"Thank you, Na-Rae," Jungkook said, gratitude flooding his voice. He reached for her hand, holding it a little tighter than necessary, excitement bubbling inside him.
Tae playfully hit Jungkook's hand, a smirk on his face, while Soojin and Jimin smiled, shaking their heads at the scene.
Suddenly, Minho spoke up. "Wait, you said there was a light? I remember a bright light right before the four of us disappeared at the auction hall. I've seen that light coming from Na-Rae."
Tae nodded, recalling a memory. "When Na-Rae and I first teleported to our world, I saw the same bright light. I thought it was a thunderstorm because it was raining that day."
Jungkook's brow furrowed. "You said it was raining? When we teleported, it was raining too."
"Yes," Tae confirmed. "My friend Jin and I discussed this. It seems to be connected to the rain."
Jimin leaned forward, intrigued. "But now it's not raining. How did Ji-Mong teleport?"
Tae and Jungkook exchanged a determined look. "That's what we need to find out," they said in unison.
Soojin chimed in, urgency in her voice. "Princess, we need to leave. The king might arrive at any time."
Tae glanced at Na-Rae, and they shared a smile, both understanding the weight of their task ahead. "Let's move," Tae urged.
The group moved silently, taking up their positions in the shadows surrounding the royal palace. Each of them was stationed at a different lookout, their senses heightened, ready for any movement. The king had returned to his chambers. A quiet murmur had rippled through the palace as he settled in for the night, taking rest after a long day.
Na-Rae sat quietly, her thoughts drifting to the delicate hairpin she always carried—a gift from her mother.
Na-Rae glanced at Soojin, who stood vigilant near the outer walls of the palace. She knew she had to focus on the mission ahead, yet the pull of family and duty warred within her.
Na-Rae: "Soojin," she whispered, her voice barely audible in the quiet night.
Soojin turned, listening carefully.
Na-Rae: "Please keep an eye on Ji Bu-In. I need you to monitor when she is in her chambers and when she leaves. We need to know how long she's gone and who she leaves behind to protect Mi-Rae when she's not there."
Soojin gave a firm nod. "Understood, Princess. I'll watch her movements closely. How long do we track her?"
Na-Rae's gaze darkened with determination. "Two days. We follow her every move for two days. I need to understand her routine before we can act."
Soojin: "And what about the others?"
Na-Rae: "Tae and Jungkook will continue their search for how Ji-Mong is teleporting. They'll investigate the light we saw earlier. But for now, we wait."
Soojin kept a watchful eye on Ji Bu-In for two days, acting friendly with her court lady (Sangseong). With a light-hearted demeanour, she would engage Ji Bu-In courty lady in casual conversations, carefully inquiring about her activities and trying to uncover any information that might reveal her true intentions regarding Mi-Rae.
As the days passed, Ji-Mong grew increasingly frustrated. He hadn't teleported to the palace again, and his anger simmered over the auction, particularly regarding the book Tae's father had acquired, and without it, Ji-Mong felt at a loss.
In a fit of rage, Ji-Mong yelled at his daughter, Eunji, who was trying to calm him down.
Eunji: "Father, please! Yelling won't change anything!"
Ji-Mong: "You don't understand! That book could have changed everything for us. We must find out where Tae is and get that book back!"
With that, Ji-Mong sent Eunji on a mission to find Tae. He instructed her to go to Tae's home and gather information about both Tae and the book. Reluctantly, Eunji agreed and made her way to his house.
