Gems's P.O.V

‘What was that?’

I questioned myself as I picked myself up. My back was hurting and I bet its gonna leave a mark because my skin was burning.

“Mom...dad... I'll save you, I promise.” I mumbled as I clenched my fist while still being on the ground while watching my tears drop on the ground below me, making it wet. I wasn't feeling good.

Not only was I confused, but I felt helpless. Helpless without Gray being around to help me. Had Gray been here, we would beat that pompous wizard who had my parents captured.

‘So that's what Sir Silver meant when he told me to beware of the raven?’ I thought as I remembered him mentioning the raven and I didn't even realize that the raven had been infront of my eyes all this time.

“Damn it!” I slammed my fists on the ground in frustration. ‘I was no match for that wizard.’ I sighed as I got up and wiped my tears away.

I looked up at the orange sky, the sun was setting and the day was ending. With wiping away my tears, I walked back towards my house, the rubble. I wasn't able to think straight and that's why I needed to go back home.

Maybe this was a nightmare too.

I requipped in my Believix and grabbed that chest, picking it up. I looked at the house and the area surrounding one more time before taking it to the sky. All the way back, I'd wipe away my tears and they'd still find a way to travel back.

I was angry and frustrated, but there was a relief that I felt upon getting to learn that my parents were alive and I got to see them after 17 long years. ‘That was not the last time I saw them, I promise that I'll save them, no matter what I have to go through for that.’ I thought as I saw the roof of my house from far.

My requip faded away as I reached my place. I hissed in pain, because the burning sensation on my back was still there.

“Owww this looks like it will take a couple of days to fade away...” I sighed as I looked on my back into a mirror. After applying some ointment, I wore my t-shirt back.

It was dinner time, but I was just not feeling hungry after what I had just learnt.

I spent my entire evening, going through the stuff that was in the chest. I had tears glistening my cheeks as I saw some old pictures of myself and my parents in there, some pictures of their wedding and some of old toys and clothes were there as well.

‘Mom... Dad...’ I cried while holding a picture. I missed them, very much. And the fact that I know they are somewhere on this earth makes me feel funny because I can't wait to show how much I have grown as a wizard.

I want to make them proud, I want them to have a smile on their faces, with me being the reason of that smile.

I was in my own trance and I didn't even realize the main door open and close.

“Gemsie?”

My head immediately turned around when I heard that familiar voice. Gray was there, he was back from his mission. He frowned when he saw me.

“Gemsie? What happened? Why are you crying?” Gray said as he immediately dropped his bagpack and sprinted towards me. “Gemsie? What happened?” he asked until his eyes fell on the chest infront of me, and the pictures I was holding.

“W-what's this?” Gray asked as he sat besides me on the floor.

“I went to Isvan today, and found this in the rubble of my house...” I mumbled as I looked at those pictures. “I don't know why I went there.” I added while sniffing.
