45: Silent Treatment

Normal P.O.V

Gems broke the hug and looked at Gray with confusion in his eyes. Gray was surprised as well, because those words that Gems said and then the way Gems looked at him, it was giving Gray the wrong idea.

“I-I-” Gems was about to say something to Gray but Natsu cut him off.

“We gotta stop this thing before they destroy Wendy's guild.” Natsu said and they all nodded. Gems looked at Gray the same way, as if Gray hurt him, which he did.

Gray wanted to talk to him so badly, but couldn't do so, due to everyone else present there.

They immediately went to the royal throne where Natsu saw that weird controller while fighting cobra. But it was empty. They all looked around here and there for the controller but there was no sign of it.

Gray tried talking to Gems a couple of times while they were trying find the controller, but Gems would just walk away from him without even saying anything. Gray was getting confused.

‘What did I even do?’ Gray thought as he sighed. His heart was feeling empty because of how coldly Gems was behaving all of a sudden. A part of him thought that maybe it was the side effects of Nirvana and the other part thought that he might have done something which hurt Gems.

“Lucy, could you ask Gems if he's okay?” Gray asked Lucy in a low tone while she was looking around. “He's acting weird, and I am asking you because you're his best friend, so he might tell you.” Gray clarified instantly, before Lucy could ask anything else.

When Lucy reached upto Gems, the glasses wearing boy was completely normal. She told Gray that everything was okay, and Gray realized that he must've done something wrong.

Wendy and Charles ran off to find the controller as well.

“Can you hear me everyone? This is Richard speaking.” They all got their gaurds up when they Richard's voice inside their heads via telepathy. “Midnight was way too powerful for me, all of you need to work together to defeat him. Defeating him will cease the power supply of Nirvana. He is directly below the royal throne. Please be careful, he is very powerful!” Richard added and they all nodded.

Little did they know, it wasn't Richard, it was Brain himself, messing with him.

As they all ran downwards, Gray was the last one to leave. He thought it was an opportunity to directly ask Gems. He grabbed Gems by his wrist and stopped him.

“What's up with you?” Gray asked.

Gems swatted his hand away and Gray was taken aback due to that. “We can talk later, there are bigger problems going on.” Gems said coldly while looking at Gray. He turned around and followed others.

‘What's gotten into him!?’ Gray thought as he looked down. He controlled his emotions in order to not get hit by Nirvana himself.

As they ran through the stairs towards the basement of that building, they found a closed gate with weird design on it. “There!” Natsu shouted while running towards it.

While Natsu proceeded to open the door, a bright light shined from the inside. That bright light was nothing but a detonater.

“Its a trap!” Jura yelled, and there was a huge explosion. Natsu pushed both Lucy and Laki down, while Gray got infront of Gems and pushed him on the ground covering him. Gems closed his eyes and they waited for something to hit them but nothing came.

“Oww... That hurt...” Laki mumbled.

“Gray... You're crushing me...” Gems mumbled as he mentioned Gray to get off him.
