65: An Evil Presence

Normal P.O.V

Lucy and the others were at the guild hall, going through books to find any clues regarding the ancient text but it was difficult for them without Levy and Freed being there.

“Gray.” Erza said as she called Gray over to the request board. Gray mumbled a ‘be right back’ to Gems as he stood up from besides him and walked towards Erza.

“What is it?” he asked.

“There is this mission which I took, would be more fitting for you, and I thought you should tag along.” Erza told her while folding her hands. She saw the confused look on his face. “Its Vanish Brothers again.” she added and the expressions on Gray's face changed.

He looked at Gems who was trying to help Lucy.

“I know you've history with them, that's why I asked you.” Erza added.

“The way they harassed Gems...it boils my blood. Count us in-”

“I don't think telling Gems about it would be a good idea, considering it might be triggering to him. It's best if he stays back here with the others.” Erza cut Gray off while he was speaking.

“I don't really feel like going without him, I promised to take him to shopping.” Gray said while scratching the back of his head.

“We'll be back by tonight or latest by tomorrow morning, if we leave now.” Erza said and Gray just nodded with a sigh.

- Mini time skip -

“Is it necessary for you to go?” Gems asked as he helped Gray pack some of his essentials. Gray wished he could tell Gems, but it was the best for him to not know about it.

“I'll be back my midnight or tomorrow morning.” Gray said as he looked at Gems. Gems just wrapped his arms around Gray. Gray hugged him back and pecked on his head.

“Please don't get hurt.” Gems mumbled.

“I won't, I promise.” Gray replied.

They both looked into each other's eyes and kissed. They didn't like going on solo missions with the other one around. Little did they know, they were being watched by a raven from outside the window in their bedroom.

Gray and Erza left in the day light, while Gems just went to Lucy's room where everyone was trying to decipher the language. While there was an entire fair being set up at the South Gate Park as Natsu and Gajeel had challenged Laxus for a fight.

They all went to the fair around evening time, since it had a lot of food and game stalls.

“Gray and Erza gonna miss all the fun.” Gems said as he looked around, the place was lit but he was missing Gray.

“You miss Gray, don't you?” Lucy said as she nudged Gems with her elbow. She wanted to ask Gems about Gray but before she could they got interrupted by their other friends. And Natsu took Gems to check out the food stalls.

“Natsu, shouldn't you prepare for tomorrow's fight in some way?” Gems asked as they munched on a burger.

“No need, I'm gonna hit him with everything I got and gonna take him down with one blow.” Natsu replied confidently, while Happy just let out a snicker.

“Gajeel must be training hard.” Happy said while looking for Gajeel.

But suddenly, after Mirajane's performance was done, Gajeel was the next to perform which shocked everyone as they made a disgusted face because Gajeel couldn't sing.
