79: Mental Pain

Normal P.O.V

Gems and Gray walked towards to where they could find the other guild members. Gems just walked behind Gray while looking down and the entire walk was silent.

Gray understood Gems's silence and gave him the space he needed. But Gray still held Gems's hand as they walked.

Gems didn't even look up, he just had his head down the entire time. He heard everyone's voices. Lucy and Laki got worried about his silence but Gray told them he'll be fine.

Erza on the other hand, was wondering what was up with Gems after the horrific dream she saw. Meanwhile the king gave a speech and thanked all the wizards for fighting the dragons and invited them to a party he was gonna throw after three days.

“Gems are you okay?” Lucy asked as she sat besides Gems. “You haven't spoken a single word nor have you looked at us. What's up with you?” she added and everyone looked at them.

Gems just pulled his knees closer to him while resting his face on his knees and hugging them.

They were all back at their inn. Gems sat on his bed, hugging his knees as the “dream” kept on replaying inside his head. He wanted to escape that so badly but wasn't able to. The fact that he had to watch Gray getting shot was making him go insane.

“Please talk to us... I'm getting worried.” Lucy mumbled as she got closer and put her hand on Gems's. “Lord your body is heating up!” Lucy gasped as she felt the warm.

Gray immediately came forward and put his hand on Gems's forehead to check the temperature. “Fever...” Gray mumbled.

Gems pulled his legs closer and closed his eyes and sniffed.

“I murdered them... Brutally... I killed them... I am a murderer...” Gems mumbled, and everyone got confused.

“Gems... Talk to us... What happened?” Laki said as she sat besides him on his bed. Erza just stood there with her hands folded as Natsu and Gray sat besides Gems while the girls surrounded him.

Gems just shook his head in a no. The expressions on his face told everyone that he was terrified.

“Gemsie, let it out. Talk to us. Everyone's here for you.” Gray spoke as he rubbed circles on his back. Gems looked at Gray with watery eyes. “I think I partly know what happened...” Gray added.

“What happened Gray?” Happy asked immediately.

“While we were on that battle field, Gems was distracted and that dragon launched a laser beam attack right at him.” Gray mumbled as he looked at Gems and then at the floor. “My instincts kicked in and I just pushed him away, taking the hit. I got shot multiple places on my body and I died...” Gray added.

Gems's body tensed up as he heard Gray say that.

“And when I opened my eyes, it all felt like a dream.” Gray told. “Is that what's bothering you, Gemsie?” he asked Gems.

“I saw Wendy and I getting killed by Zirconis in that weird dream...” Laki mumbled.

“Even I was attacked by eight of those dragons, I sighed in relief when I realized that it was just a dream.” Lucy added.

“Yeah.. Gems, it was all a dream. No one died. We are all still alive.” Natsu said but Gems shook his head no. While letting a tear slip.

“That's just half the thing you know...” Gems mumbled as he looked at Gray. The look on Gems's face was making Gray concerned about him. Something was up with him. “What I saw is so much different than yours...” Gems added.
