The next morning, their entire team was ready to go, meet up with the others at the Hargeon Port. Erza had already left a day early with other S-Class wizards, to set up the trial requirements at the Tenrou Island. While Charles and Lily stayed back at the guild.
“So here it goes...” Gems mumbled as they saw a huge ship with Fairy Tail emblem on it and their master standing there as their guide
18 wizards from Fairy Tail had gathered at the port, and went on board. The ship was infused with magic, so it wouldn't take them long to reach there, most likely an hour or two at most.
“Its so hot!” Gray complained about the heat and wanting to strip.
“I may not be your partner in this exam, but don't forget the promise you made before leaving.” Gems mumbled quietly to Gray with a smile.
Gray remembered about making a promise to not strip while Gems wasn't around to keep an eye on him. Gray just sighed and nodded.
“Gems can you not blow some wind!?” Lucy complained and Gems just sweatdropped.
“Yeah Gray! Use some of your ice too!” Elfman complained as well, the heat was excessive.
They all complained to each other, until Makarov cleared his throat and pointed in the further direction. It was the Tenroujima island, they were almost there.
“So that's the Tenrou island!?” Gems asked as they all saw a gigantic tree in the middle of the island.
“Seems like it.” Gray answered.
“Even from here I can sense the magic power in the air around the island! Its crazy!” Gems said as he felt a sudden surge in his magic power.
“It is believed that fairies once lived here, and it is where Mavis Vermilion, Fairy Tail's first master rests!” Makarov answered. “See the smoke coming from the shore? That's where the first round begins.” Makarov explained and they all spotted the smoke that was rising.
“There are nine routes there, and each team will begin by taking one. And along each route there are some obstacles.” Master spoke as he showed them a chart which had, 2 combat routes, 2 serenity routes, and 3 intense combat routes.
Everyone trembled in fear when they found out that intense combat routes meant facing either Mirajane, Erza or Gildarts and by only defeating them was the way to move to the next round.
Combat routes meant that two teams will collide and the winning team will be moving to second round and the Serenity route means you're directly entering round 2, but your luck needs to be strong for that.
“So that means only a maximum of seven teams will be going to second round.” Levy pointed out by doing her calculations.
“Now get started! Let the trial begin!” Makarov announced.
“But we're in the middle of the ocean...” Loke said getting confused.
“You know what that means, Happy... Let's take the first pick!” Natsu said as Happy carried him and started flying.
“Aye Sir!” Happy said as he spread his wings.
“Hey! That's not fair!” Gray yelled. “Gemsie! Take me to the island!” he added forgetting that Gems wasn't his partner.
“Hey! He's my partner!” Laki corrected Gray, and Gray just rolled his eyes. He was stuck with Loke.
But just when Natsu and Happy were about to leave the ship, they got slammed in an invisible wall which was Freed's enchantments.
