71: "Requip: Believix!"

Normal P.O.V

“Sorry...” Gray mumbled as he walked past Gems and avoided his gaze. Gems felt so bad.

“Gray...” Gems mumbled as he ran and stopped Gray. “Gray... I'm here with you...” Gems mumbled as he didn't let Gray walk any further. “Please look at me...” Gems added.

Gray just punched the wall besides them, making Gems gasp out of fear.

“Raven Tail... That memory make wizard... I will pay them back for this... I swear!” Gray spoke angrily.

“Gray! Your hand!” Gems panicked as he saw Gray's knuckle starting to get bruised. “Healing Winds!” Gems immediately pulled Gray away from the wall and healed his knuckle and his other wounds which Raven Tail put on him.

Gray just looked down and had tears in his eyes.

“Gray...” Gems mumbled as he made Gray look at him, Gray was still trying to avoid that gaze since he had no courage left to look Gems in his eyes. Gems felt a pang in his heart as he saw Gray's face. Gray was crying and that broke Gems's heart. “Don't cry... Gray...” Gems mumbled as he wiped Gray's tears.

‘I gotta stay strong for Gray.’ Gems thought while himself holding back tears.

“I can't help it... I didn't want you see me like this... I'm seriously sick of you always sticking by my side... But then again, I can't be myself without you either. I can't afford to act like this infront of you...” Gray said as he looked away.

Gems didn't say anything and just pulled Gray in a hug, a tight warm hug. Gems rubbed circles on Gray's back and head, trying to comfort him.

“Let's save our tears for when we've won...” Gems mumbled. “You were amazing, and you showed that we do have a fighting chance after all, this gives us an opportunity for a bigger comeback.” Gems spoke as he made Gray look at him.

Gems used his fingers and perked up Gray's lips.

Gray didn't say anything, he was happy that Gems was there with him and that gave him a warm fuzzy feeling. He smiled looking at Gems as Gems wiped his tears away because he knew Gems saved him from falling.

“Let's go watch the games, Lucy's fighting.” Gems mumbled as he help Gray dust off his clothes and adjusted his hair.

“Yeah...” Gray mumbled, he felt like baby as Gems grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the stands from where they could watch the match.

Gems was constantly cheering for his best friend, Lucy as she battled, Flare of Raven Tail. While Gray just sat there and watched the action silently. Looking at how Gems cheered for Lucy brought a smile on his face.

But the smiles on their faces quickly faded, when Lucy lost the match.

Gems was extremely upset upon seeing how hurt Lucy was due to that match, Gray just tried his best to comfort him.

The next matches were good, Ren from Blue pegasus beat Araña of Mermaid Heel. And Olga from Sabertooth just squashed Warcry of Quatro Cerberus. And for the main event of the Day 1, it was Mystogan of Fairy Tail Team B vs Jura of Lamia Scale.

The match was good with Mystogan dominating, but it ended abruptly with him losing. Gems and Gray both looked at each other and just sighed.

As the first day of the tournament ended, the scoreboard was not at all in Fairy Tail's favour.
