48: Gems's Sacrifice

Normal P.O.V

Gray was hurt when he stormed out of their home. He went straight to where he and Gems would train. Gray just found the tree that he and Gems would sit under after their training and just sat there.

A single tear escaped his eye but he wiped it off, while he watched the moon, just like how Gems does. Gray couldn't think of anything else, other than Gems. He didn't like the phase they were going through and he wanted to fix that.

Gray spent hours just looking at the moon and thinking about Gems, before he walked back home. He went to his room without making any noise, closed the door silently and walked to Gems.

He saw Gems had curled up while sleeping and was wearing one of Gray's night clothes. Gray frowned when he saw dried tear marks on Gems's face and his heart broke. “Gemsie... I'm so sorry...” Gray mumbled as gently rubbed Gems's face with his thumb.

Gray immediately changed into his night clothes and crawled into their bed, wrapping his arm around Gems and cuddling him. He didn't even realize when he felt asleep while holding Gems.

Gems felt like deja vu when woke up, they were apart, but yet woke in each other's arms. Gems closed his eyes and snuggled closer to Gray. Gems looked at Gray's face and he was sleeping peacefully, the sun still had not risen, but Gems had to leave with Erza for his mission.

‘I'm so sorry about yesterday...’ Gems thought as he looked at Gray.

Gems slowly got out of Gray's grip, making sure that he didn't disturb Gray's sleep. He went and took a bath and got ready for his mission. His heartbeats were fast.

‘This is the first time I'm going on mission without Gray...’ Gems thought as he closed the wardrobe without making noise. He wrote a letter for Gray and left it on side table of their bed.

Dear Gray,

Sorry for the way I talked with you last night, my mind was not in the right place. I miss talking to you.

I'll be back from the mission by tonight, hopefully we can talk it out. I miss you so much, these past couple of days have been rough.

I hope you can forgive me.

Gems turned around one last time before he left the bedroom, he couldn't resist and he immediately walked up to Gray and pecked him on his forehead. “I love you...” Gems mumbled. He got up and walked out.

Gems met up with Erza, Wendy and Charles and they were ready to go with Erza's humongous luggage. Gems put up a smile on his face. “Gray...?” Erza asked.

“He's sleeping.” Gems answered immediately.

Erza and Wendy didn't ask any questions to Gems about what happened the previous night. They had never seen either Gems or Gray get this heated before, they thought it would be better to leave that topic untouched.

When they reached the DioDelphi village, it was a complete mess there. They were immediately taken to a safe spot, safeguarded by Freed's enchantments.

“This place is a mess.” Charles mumbled as they were there with the villagers and the village cheif as well. The Raijin Tribe was there as well.

“That blast from Nirvana opened up the portal to the Omega Dimension, and after that happened, all the prisoners are evading our village.” The village chief spoke.

“Omega Dimension portal? Prisoners?” Gems asked while getting confused.

“Omega Dimension is a place somewhere in the north, where they keep the prisoners who might have demonic powers. It had been sealed away, but now since its opened, they're escaping.” The cheif said.
